Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well my dad passed away recently and my brother and I have a plan for liquidating estate over the next few months. I'll also use the time to continue to lighten my load of "stuff" and join you all at a full-timer. I'm watching the RV-Dreams site so I can register for the next educational rally.
I'm working on specs for my cargo trailer that will carry my Can-Am Spyder and business stuff, and I'm considering a different, shorter MH, to live in. I plan to be FT by next spring, if not before.
Sorry for your loss. Depending on your state your Dad's estate might be handled in a summary proceeding or in a full probate matter if he didn't have a living trust. And how trusts are handled varies state by state too. The summary gross value limit in California, for instance, is $150,000. Hopefully you have retained an experienced probate/trust attorney. Remember, the IRS, Medicare, state income tax departments, creditors etc. never sleep and will be looking at you and your brother.

No problem, Larry. Everything was in a trust and I'm the trustee. We're just going through all the paper work and coordinating among the attorney, financial advisor and the accountant. No probate required. So I'll probably winter here and then head out in the spring.
I'd have already been out there with all you FT folks except for caring for my Dad in his later days. But I wouldn't have traded them for anything.
I'm waiting with bated breath for news about the next education rally. Will there be one in the fall? Or only in the spring?

Just a heads up that most shorter motor homes are built on a Ford chassis these days. The towing capacity of these is 5,000 lbs. A trailer big enough to haul a spyder and the spyder will likely take up a lot of that capacity. You should also look at how much cargo carrying capacity (CCC) you will give up with the trailer as it subtracts from your GCVR. For instance a certain motor home I'm familiar with has a hitch capable of towing 10,000 lbs. It also has a CCC of around 6,200 lbs. However, the GCVR is just 5,000 lbs more than the GVWR so while you can tow 10,000 lbs you will only have about 1,200 lbs of CCC left, which isn't much. Just the math I've gone through over the last year of so looking at the same issue.
