Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

My uncle would came along on his truck as he got 2 weeks off, we'll be installing camper and the rack while waiting for his new set of tires and American force dually wheels to arrive. He'll be needing a good internet connection, sounds like getting these two services ensure the connectivity all the time.

 If you decide on Rodman, I recommend trying to get a site on the "Phase 2" loop. The sites are larger than Phase 1 and some even have a nice view of the canal. Satellite view can be a problem on the canal side though if that's an issue.

For Internet, yes, I highly recommend having both AT&T and Verizon if you move around much. As I said, we haven't been anywhere yet where one or the other didn't give us a good signal. We just left Gold Head Branch State Park near Keystone Heights, FL where AT&T was king, and right now we're at Crooked River State Park near St Marys, GA and both services are very good.

So I’ve got my 8800 and to help lengthen the battery life I’m going to put it on a timed charge regime...that should lessen the possibility of battery swell over leaving it plugged all the time. I’m trying to figure out how long to charge it daily. I will try various charge time options myself of course...but I figured somebody might have already invented this wheel and I could use that as a starting point. I thought I would start with charging twice daily for an hour...say 11 to 12. 

Has anybody set this up and/or have any thoughts...my gut feel is that an hour twice a day won’t be enough but I’m looking to minimize charge time for battery life purposes.

My timer will only do one interval a day. I've found that between 1.5 and 2.5 hours a day is fine unless we stream something to the TV all evening.

I have mine set to 2 hours on twice a day, but I have not experimented with it.  I am using a $4 mechanical timer from Wal-Mart.

Thanks Rob and Bill...I set mine for 1.5 hours twice a day to start and will go from there. Obviously it’s  use dependent but starting with a semi-known number is usuall  better.

Just my two cents! I believe the difference in signal strength depends on the Towers! I rent a Verizon Jetpak from the local library the signal varies. Had a Verizon Prepaid phone with Hotspot it had trouble streaming videos. Presently I have a Prepaid Cricket phone; AT&T is the provider and it does better but uses data faster than the Jetpak!

 Normally attrition takes care of the problem as people do let go of these plans over time no matter how good a deal they are.  They have also been known to raise the price $5 or $10 a month after some time, often years.
