Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The reviews are starting to come in . There are some user reviews on the escapee forums . The response has been overwhelming. We should be shipping the car units in the next few weeks for those with smaller RVs. Thank you everyone for the patience after all the trials and tribulations over the last 3 years.
When do you expect Jack Mayer's and Technomadia's testing and report-out to be completed?
I also read the favorable reviews of the newly released Maximum Signal, posted on other forums.
We are considering purchasing a Maximum Signal Amplifier, but would really like to read Jack's comparison to the WeBoost prior to purchasing.
Can't tell you . Jack has had his system for a while and was waiting for the replacement 12 volt power cord . Technomadia has not received a unit yet as they are get the auto system which fits their application better . If you read Dutch's review on escapee forums he did compare to The Weboost system he had before and basically there was no comparison . Biggest feature everyone loves is total coverage of your RV and not having to be within 3 feet of the antenna

Wish me luck Have a Conference call today with a major Cable Television network That is considering doing a show on us and the product. Seems they have been following us and actually are using the product.
I received the amp just shortly before our departure from central Florida. The kit included the same antenna as I have on my roof that is mounted versus using the provided mag mount. Running the mag mount would have taken more time than I had so I just used my own adaptor and plugged it into the amp.
The inside antenna had the same time constraints and wanting to do a worst case install I placed it next to the A pillar and only a couple of feet from my phone cradle which had just been moved so I could watch the signal strength and use some features that I had not used in the past.
The amp was mounted using Velcro and placed under my dash mat in front of the steering wheel so I could reach the power plug. I wanted to see how hot the housing would get as well because we know some customer is going to do just that. It remained cool to the touch throughout the trip.
Living within ½ mile of a cell tower my signal strength is outstanding without the amp. Powering the amp up showed a 4 db gain. This gain was seen 20 feet away from the inside antenna.
We traveled up to Kansas and then to interstate 80 heading West to California. There were many stops along the way. Watching signal strength over many days would be impossible and dangerous. I decided a simple way to monitor performance was to use the Waze application for driving safety and then to monitor talk radio every day and for most of the route.
Our 22 year old grandson was along as well as my wife. Each rode in the middle of the RV at times and were 15-20 feet from the inside antenna, They both used their devices for hours each day.
As we progressed I did unplug the amp to make sure it was actually being utilized. While driving it is a bit difficult to use the dbm page on the phone so I did what most customers would do and watched the bars. There was always an improvement in the signal level with the amp on.
We had complete coverage all along I 80 except for about 1/3 of a mile in between some deep canyons.
The real comparison for me was when we came to a stretch of road in California that I am intimately familiar with. I have traveled this stretch of Highway 20 right off
I 80 for over 40 years. Since I am a telecommunications technician this area has been tested by me from tube type radios to modern cell phones. I know the coverage in this area like the back of my hand.
Most of this 30 mile stretch has extremely spotty coverage. I know which turn outs to stop and make calls if necessary. With my wife aware that I wanted to watch this area closely she was monitoring service closely. My talk radio shows were working fine.
Before sharing the results I would like to comment on the convenience of this device. The existing Wilson cradle has served me well for many years. Before that I had installed many amplifiers. Some with jumper cables plugged into the antenna ports that are no longer available. As a highly qualified installation technician that owns an electronics company it was even difficult at times to make those devices operate without issues. Fiberglass roofs in RV’s do not provide decent isolation between the inside and outside antennas.
Being able to have all devices inside the RV to function allowed my wife to use her equipment to help navigate and find RV parks along the way. My grandson was able to enjoy his devices the whole trip.
For this trip I threw a temporary mount together for my phone so it would be easy to operate. Though the installation is not up to my normal standards, it was tested in a near worst case installation. The roof antenna was the exception. The roof antenna is identical to the one provided except I have a permanent mount and a small ground plane. I used my own adaptor from the roof mount antenna and know these alone can decrease the signal strength by ½ to 1 db and sometimes more.
Now for the real test along highway 20. This area is in the high Sierras with tall thick trees. Narrow canyons and winding roads make watching signal strengths all but impossible in an RV while towing a car. As we traveled we finally lost service. Not for a half mile but probably for a whole 3 miles total along the 30 mile route.
Outstanding performance is really not a good enough word for me to explain how impressed I was. I can’t wait to test it in some other remote areas I am familiar with. This amp is a game changer. I could get all techie and talk about regeneration, feedback, dbm’s, etc. but the average consumer could care less. They simply want to know if this things works. Very simply put.
YES ! I would buy one in a second. I have spent close to 2K over the years buying the latest and greatest. The Wilson Sleek works decent but does not hold a candle and the freedom from the cradle is worth the price alone.
We will be in Calif for a month or so and will be able to test the amp in a place that could really use a decent amp. I will make a special effort to travel the 1.5 hours each way to check out our old camping areas. The amp will be moved to the car for the test.
Thank you for the confidence in me and allowing me to do a real life test on this amp. I am very impressed.
Another very happy customer . 4G where his phone was only picking up 1xrtt
Here is some additional operational data.
We are at Union Bay Campground near Ontonagon, Mi, where the outside signal is -98 1x while the inside is -114 LTE. The Open Signal speed is 5 mbps. So the box is doing its thing.
Just got featured in new products section of Rv Lifestyle magazine after they field tested The Max Amp Mobile RV Package. They deemed it superior to anything else they tested.
Right now I have wires running through a window and the mag mount sitting on a piece of steel on the roof. This does mean I have to put it all away when we move, which involves getting on the roof. I will get it more permanently installed when I get some other RV work done in October. An RV tech with experience installing a roof mount TV dish or something similar should be able to do the work. We will be going to Carrier RV Service in Eugene Oregon.

Colton RV in Buffalo is now selling and installing. The install is very simple any Rv shop would be able to do it. We are slowly building Brick and Mortar dealers. Cellular amplifiers are a new product to most.
It is working, but most places we have stayed the signals are usable without it. I am sure we will be happy to have it as we get moving more in November and hit places we had trouble in the past. Where the motorhome is parked now, it would help, but I am away dealing with some family issues and my wife is finding the cell signal adequate for her current needs. Interestingly, we were in another part of that same campground a month ago and really needed the boost. I suspect our location has a clearer shot of the cell tower(s), or maybe less people using the towers.

Lots of places the cellular providers don't do that . And it is not economically feasable for them to do it. Lots of people are willing to spend the Money to stay connected . Not just a gimmick by the way . Serious technology . Glad you do not feel you need one.
We have now been at two campgrounds where I was glad to have the amplifier. In both cases we mostly had 4G/LTE without the amplifier, but sometimes it would drop out to 3G or nothing. With the amplifier, there were no drop outs and we had solid 4G/LTE the whole time. This was true with both Verizon and T-Mobile.

Would this device increase thru put? I have both a Verizon MiFi hotspot, and an AT&T wireless home phone with internet (translation - a hotspot). Where I am now the Verizon unit has 20 Mbps thru put and the AT&T unit has 3 Mbps thru put.

Depends on lots of factors . It will give you best speeds available on the tower. Lots of other factors come into play such as Tower load and what kind of backhaul is being run to the tower you are connected to . In bad areas it will help as it will find you a 4G signal when other amplifiers or your device cannot even see them .
BJoyce is correct. The amplifier is equiptment....I dont leave home without.

The amplifier can only do what it has control of. It does not have control of the cell tower, the backhaul from the cell tower (what the cell tower connects to), or the load on the tower. We were just at Thousand Trails Pio Pico, which is only a few miles east of the San Diego metro, but in rolling hills that block cellular signals and the towers are far away. In our campsite we had nothing on Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile without the amplifier. With the amplifier we had very sporadic 1X Verizon, showing up a minute or two every couple hours. We had no T-Mobile. AT&T would mostly be 4GLTE with the amplifier, but slow and a bit unstable. When it rained the AT&T would move to Edge (2.5G) and was unusable. Driving two to four miles away we regained both Verizon and T-Mobile service.
(This will probably be the last report I will give on T-Mobile, since I am getting rid of the phone and plan to change my AT&T hotspot to a tablet with a larger plan. T-Mobile did not work that well, there were too many places we had no signal, or the speed was slow. We no longer need to be available for calls, so I can go back to one phone.)

I've just starting reading these post. Sounds good, but is the difference in price ($200+) worth it. Is the service from the max signal that much better than Weboost? We are going to need a booster this summer where we are workamping and have started looking for a product. Any feedback I appreciate.
Carolinakids - you have the same question I do, is it worth upgrading? I already have the WeBoost and I'm not sure I'm ready to spend the extra money for another system.
I've been following the RV Mobile Internet site as they do comparisons between products and have yet to be convinced to spend the extra money. I like their comparisons as they are not from the manufacturer and therefore not biased. www.rvmobileinternet.com/

We ultimately purchased the weBoost Drive 4G-X with the 4G Trucker Antenna; we are very happy with that purchase. Another good non-biased review to read is: http://wheelingit.us/2016/11/28/easy-rv-mod-the-weboost-drive-4g-x-otr-cellular-booster-kit/. We purchased the 4G-X prior to wheelingit’s write-up, based upon discussions with RVers who have experience with the different systems.

The Maximum Signal amplifier has many features that differentiates it from the competition .
Greater signal sensitivity - The maximum signal amplifier sees signals and makes them usable when your devices or amplifiers cannot even see the signal. Your devices stop seeing signal at -116 DB , Maximum Signal amplifier see a signal at - 127 and make it usable for you . Weboost in their own literature do not guarantee performance of their equipment after a signal level of -104 DB
Increased coverage area .- There is no need to stand close to the antenna with the Maximum Signal system . The RV package will cover up to a 53 foot RV end to end . It gives you the freedom to move around your RV and still stay connected in up to a 53 foot RV. I have users that even brag about being able to sit outside their RV and receive the amplification
Handles Multiple networks . Others make this claim . But the do not work on multiple networks at the same time
Handles Multiple Devices. Again others make this claim but everytime another device is added the amplification to each device is cut in 1/2 . The Maximum Signal amplifier handles up to 8 device at once even on different carriers with all devices getting full amplification
Better Quality components - No upgrades are needed the maximum Signal systems includes the best antennas from the start - no additional purchases needed . We even include AC and DC power sources to give you flexibility in how you power the system .
Greater Amplification - Independent testing by one of the nations leading Storm Chasers documented The Maximum Signal system providing 20 more db Gain than the Weboost . In head to head testing . In lay mans terms that means a signal about 100 times stronger than the WEboost . Also that same chaser reported the Maximum Signal system finding 4G signal and making it 3 full bars when the WeBoost could not provide 4G signal at all!
If you talk to users that have used both you will get information first hand that our systems are a cut above
Maximum Signal is also made in the USA . Not just assembled here . We take great pride in that . Sure it costs a little more but we feel strongly about that.

This is only my second post here, but I thought my experiences with both the Max Amp RV and WeBoost Drive 4G-M boosters might be helpful for those interested in having the most reliable phone and Internet access possible.
After a number of years of struggling with weak cell signals and poor RV park WiFi, I was offered the loan of a new WeBoost Drive 4G-M booster by a trucker friend that had taken ill and could no longer drive. After installing the unit, we were initially impressed that it was giving us signals in some areas that had always been troublesome for us, although we did find that having to be within a few feet of the indoor "Hershey Bar" antenna with our multiple devices was quite annoying. There were still areas where we couldn't get a reliable signal though, or in some cases, any signal at all. After following Maximum Signal's testing and legal jousting with the FCC and a patent troll, I was finally able to purchase the new Max Amp RV model, hoping it might be a worthy replacement for the borrowed WeBoost.
After installing the Max we took a few days trip, passing through a number of areas in the Adirondacks where we had never gotten a signal before, even with the WeBoost. It wasn't until we had passed through a couple of them that it dawned on us that we hadn't lost our Internet connection at all. We were amazed, and of course quite pleased with our purchase! When we stopped for the night, we were even more pleased to find that the boosted signal held up well from end to end in our 34' coach and even in the awning area outside. Since that initial trial trip, we've been to or through quite a few other areas, such as parts of West Virginia, the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina, and along the Tamiami Trail in Florida, where weak or non-existent signals had previously been the norm. In every case, we've had usable cell signals from Verizon, AT&T, and while not always, even T-Mobile. Our service has usually been 4G/LTE with at least good or better speeds, with just an occasional drop to still stable and usable 3G speeds on some services in a few areas.
All in all, we have not regretted buying the Max Amp at all, and Gord's customer service is first rate. I highly recommend the Max Amp to anyone wanting a reliable cell signal anywhere there's even a hint of a signal for it to grab on to.
Thanks Dutch . Just to be clear every review posted has been and independent review from an actual customer. Not just propaganda.
Got the sales sheet done for our new Truck and Trailer Package . For those with Trailers or 5th wheels. It will make it easy to move the amplifier from your tow vehicle to your RV. As it includes 2 sets of Antennas . Also finally got my power sources I have been waiting 3 years for that are 12 volt and 110 in the same power source. If any of my current customers want one . Just email me where to ship it too and I will get one out to you..New sheet for this package should be posted by my webmaster in the next few days.. Hope everyone had a great and safe holiday.

$649 Wow that's still pricey. When it comes to must haves or absolute necessity, then I guess its worth the bill. Guess I'll just take care of the internet connections when I go to the laundry once a week and hope in a few years cost comes down some. And maybe by then something new will be up and running less costly. Not wanting to sound cheap and I do like my internet time. Just hard to see basically $700 or even $500's on the cheaper weboost to use internet when its not a must in our lives. Now if we ran a blog, website or needed it for income of sorts then I see the expense and it could be used on tax deduction at end of year. If you need some more advertisement and want to lower the cost a few hundred count us in. Another thing, we traveled around the west last summer and stayed in some far away places and were amazed at how well our IPad stayed connected. Even when we had 1 bar we could text. Very few times did we go anywhere where we couldn't text. And if you want to worry about 911, then try it and see what happens. Not really you might have to lie and tell them you meant to hit 611.
There is a reason BMW's do not cost the same as KIA's . The same goes for cellular amplifiers . I am sorry we have chosen to not cut corners and built a superior product . Our previous dual band model had just over 400 chips on the board . . With all the additional bands now covered plus all the new fail safes required by the FCC that we have had to build in . The new amplifier has 1365 chips on the board. If the product is not in your price range I understand . But I am not price gouging . Basically you get what you pay for .
If you are happy with a simpler cheaper product without the features or the performance so be it . I am proud of our product and will not compromise the quality for price.
I appreciate's Dutch' review. Still not making a purchase decision without a few more unbiased reviews (ie. NOT the manufacturer), including the next round from Technomadia or Jack Mayer.
My current philosophy on this is that our WeBoost is working well 95% of the time and those other times we move until we find a better location. I am in the growing number of people who look at the boosting equipment as a necessity, not a luxury, as I am still working full time. However, what we currently have is working, has been working well for us, and I'm just simply not ready to spend the $$$'s until I know it's going to be a significant benefit over what I have now. Knowing that at least for the next 9 months our travels will take us back to places we've been before and know what to expect from the cell signals with our current booster puts in a position where I know what I have will work and I can "wait and see" for more reviews before making a decision.
I appreciate's Dutch' review. Still not making a purchase decision without a few more unbiased reviews (ie. NOT the manufacturer), including the next round from Technomadia or Jack Mayer.
Did you happen to see Jack's post back in October on the Escapees Forum in answer to a question about his testing?
"Have you finished testing yet?"
"Nope...but I'm using it right now in the Hinterlands of Kansas. And I do mean the hinterlands. Barely one bar of 3G without the amp. With the amp....full 4G."
Was doing a little browsing and found this ya'll. Smoothtalker Mobile RV X6 Cell booster. Looks to be the latest.
Love to know coverage area . With a directional panel antenna . I am curious to see if it covers 2500 to 3500 square feet. Also it is not the strongest Our RV unit is also 50DB . By the way Geeks on Tour as well as Jack Mayer and RVtravel.com are in the middle of doing thorough reviews on our new RV System as we speak . So there are the additional reviews someone asked for . I have never worried about Smoothtalkers in the past . Not going to now.
This was posted by Jack Mayer today in the Escapee forums
ay, 08:05 AM User Experience. Consider this somewhat anecdotal.
I'm currently in SE KS out in the "hinterlands". Without assistance there is only 3G data here, and the phone barely works. That is a good phone (Note 5). Lesser phones do not work at all.
I set up the Mobile amp as a "house" amp (I'm staying in a house). The 13" mag mount antenna in a window on the "tower side" (on a pizza plate). The Super maxx is on top of the kitchen refrigerator at the front edge. That gives me an average of 18 dbi of gain. It takes data speeds from 2 kbps (note the K) on 3G to an average of 3.8 MBPS. That is not screaming, but the tower is deficient to start with, since speeds near it are only around 5-6 MBPS.
Why do I only see so little gain? The way these amps work, after hundreds of tests, is that the gain bounces. It will crank the gain up, and then adjust it down until the connection is solid. Or at least that seems to be the way it works, empirically. The weBoost -M with its provided antennas averages speeds of 1.85 MBPS. So I'd say the the Maxamp handily outperforms the weBoost in THIS set of circumstances, which I would call "challenging". To be fair, I have seen the weBoost outperform the Max in other circumstances. Mostly when it is closer to the towers. Id say the Max performs best when really challenged.
Good morning from Georgia. We just got back into camping last year after 30 years. The good news / bad news is starting from scratch you get to / have to, get all new stuff. Being able to stay connected is important for us, so some kind of booster made the "must have" list, though it was quite a ways down. We are about as far away from impulsive as one can get and tend to spend a lot of time researching before purchasing. We did not like any booster that required the phone to be close to it to work though it appeared that most technology required this to prevent oscillation or feedback. The Max Amp RV advertised that it would provide coverage throughout our 32 ft RV and possibly even nearby outside. There are several reviews in different forums giving it positive comments. Researching this booster, we believed it to be the latest technology compared with the rest and worth the extra cost. We ordered through Amazon and just recently completed the install ourselves. Bonded a ground plane to the roof just behind the front cap, routed the coax through the roof satellite pre-wire path to the living room media cabinet and placed the inside antenna mid coach on the ceiling with all wiring hidden. We haven't been out on the road yet, but sitting in the storage lot we noticed that though the signal strength only improved marginally, the speed at which pages loaded on our IPad was noticeably faster. So far, we are very pleased. We have a trip this summer visiting our kids and grands near San Angelo Texas and will see how it does out where the coyotes roam.

Glad you are pleased so far. The new FCC regulations are very specific about an amplifier not over powering a tower . These new amplifiers actually negotiate with the tower and your device. Setting the signal at an Optimum level . The optimum level is not necessarily full bars . But the amplifier sets the signal where you are getting clear voice and better up load and download speeds. Where you will see the amplifier raise your bars the greatest in really poor or actually no signal areas. This amplifier can see signal that your device and other amplifiers on the market cannot even see and will make one usable for you. Jack Mayer noted that in his most recent comments. Our amplifiers work for you in areas others won't and you do not have to stand right next to it for it to work for you. Thank you for your purchase from my Amazon dealers.
Besides the obvious advantages of getting a very usable signal where other devices don't get any signal, even in just moderately poor signal areas where the other amps can also provide a usable signal the Max Amp still comes out on top by supplying that signal throughout the RV, instead of just within a few feet of the inside antenna. That alone adds significant value to the Max Amp to my mind. If our previous WeBoost 4G-M had that capability, it would have been harder to "sell" myself on buying the Max Amp for its other advantages. Having made the switch though, I've been very pleased with both the decision and especially the performance!
Now we need to have Gord's engineers design a satellite TV signal booster that will work through trees... ;)
Nice Professional Storm Chaser Review Who Just purchased Max Amp Mobile system
I will say I had this installed on Monday and so far have been very impressed. I make the drive from Kearney, NE to Grand Island NE very often... With no booster the entire middle part of this drive is 3G... With the cradles I used previously there would be 2 or 3 spots that was 3G rest 4G.. Where I live in Gibbon which is in between Kearney and Grand Island it as always 3G even with the cradles... So far with this new unit I have traveled 4 times back and forth and all 4 times the signal stayed for 4g and the signal at my house is 4G.. Happy customer so far.. cant wait to take it on some chases.
That's what I saw Howard and was ironically about to say "would love to see a response from Cherie and Chris", especially considering Dutch review of 4th January saying the Weboost didn't give signal where the Max Amp did.
I'm the least understanding of technology in many forms so do seriously look to the reviews and feedbacks from those ahead of us, and tend to go with the masses overall reviews when making a purchasing decision if all else meets our needs/wants.
Hopefully Technomadia can make an unbiased objective comment here to assist us "non-techies"!
Thanks for all that care and share.

Technomadia offers anecdotal experiences just like the rest of us rather than scientific testing with appropriate equipment. In my opinion, the only thing Technomadia has working for it is a better facility for writing reports and a good marketing plan. I switched to the Max Amp RV for two primary reasons... It works better than my weBoost did and repeats the signal much farther. If it didn't, I would have returned it and kept the weBoost. Even the well respected Jack Mayer has said the Max Amp outperforms the weBoost in extreme conditions. I wonder why Technomadia can't get one to work for them. Improper installation perhaps? Beats me why it's working so well for others but not for them...
Thanks Dutch, don't want to buy twice when once might suffice. For sure have a lot of respect for Jack M' also, so would be keen to read his assessment.

In the detailed review by Technomadia/RVMobileInternet they quoted Jack:
Our co-author Jack has been able to find one very weak signal area where he was able to get the Max-Amp Mobile to outperform the weBoost Drive 4G-M he has been testing against.
Here is his conclusion:
"In general I'm unimpressed. But it did work well in a really BAD area I was in in KS. It outperformed the 4G-M in that ONE instance. But in every other respect the -M beat it.
And in moderate location the -M always killed it - by a LOT. I have almost 800 well documented test runs."
The prior quote from Jack on the Escapees Forum was from January and referred to that Kansas test. It appears he has been unimpressed in tests since then, but I'll contact Jack and see if he can post a direct review here on this Forum.
Our amplifier does what is supposed to according to new FCC standards. Finds signals when others cannot and turns itself right down when near a tower . Ours sees signals others do not . Does multiple carriers and multiple devices with all getting full amplification .And much larger coverage area . You do not have to stand next to the antenna Those are things they are not testing for.
