Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Mud flaps

Just curious if many of you have mud flaps on your truck?  Looking at the brand called

Gatorback. They seem pricey but well made, wonder if they are a good idea.

I have them.. not sure of the brand.. they are from online.. they cut the stainless into any design.. if I remember, they where like $200

I bought the DuraFlap,   http://www.duraflap.com/  ,to replace the plastic front flaps on my truck. Excellent fit and looks good.

One caution- if the mud flaps hang too low and you back up onto a curb or other obstacle the flap can get caught between the obstacle and rear tires. I tore one off of my dually while trying to back over a curb.

 This is why I don't have any on my Ford F450, even though the height with the 19.5" wheels may prevent the possibility of the flap being torn off.  If one is where they feel they need flaps, there is always the Enkay Rock Tamers.  They are designed to fit into the truck's tow receiver, so they could be removed completely when not being used for their intended purpose.  I've actually seen them at Cabela's.  They could also be dismantled for storage if needed.

I ran my f250 a long time .. pulling a race trailer.. front of the trailer was dinged and chipped all to hell when I sold it..after that, I put the flaps on..(but it was a lifted diesel with 37" off road wheels )

I would think mud flaps or some kind of stone protection is a must have ?

I had a long one on my class a to protect the honda toad too.. 7 years ago.

Not sure if they're in the same league you have in mind, but here's what I put on our truck (front and rear). They keep most stuff off the running boards and trailer:
