Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am a nutritional consultant, holistic health coach and chef. My current primary website is http://EssentialsForHealthyLiving.com where I post articles on nutrition, healthy eating, recipes, and Essential Oils.
My goal is to transition this website so that it will include a separate embedded website that will be for those who live off the grid. New Domain has been purchased and I'm in the process of writing content. I'll be modifying recipes so that they will work in most situations, albeit in an RV, camper or BBQ/open fire.
After looking at so many recipes that talk about being low fat and low sugar, my passion is to create easy, healthy and delicious recipes that don't require a long list of gourmet ingredients and 2 pages of complicated directions. When you are on the road, you should be able to eat simply and healthy.
I invite you to take a look at my website, send me any suggestions and/or recipes, and please do keep an eye open for a new website that I'm hoping will be welcomed within the RV community.
I'm also looking for your ideas and suggestions on how to stock an RV pantry/kitchen. What you can and can't live without.
Feel free to contact me

Not on the road yet, but soon.
Love the idea of delicious meals without 3 pages of ingredients and directions. RVs have very limited space for cooking appliances and specialized pots, pans or bakeware. Prep space is also limited. Most of us cook for two and we can't afford to store (or even worse, throw away) left over ingredients. Will visit your site soon, great idea!

Sharon,
I'm not a technical person with websites, so the part above in bold may require you to contact the owners of the RV Dreams website to see if that can be done. I will say that in the past, we've allowed users to post their blogs and internet url's within their signature areas. If that is all that you ask of the owners, I doubt it will be a problem, but you do need to contact them in the event your plans are different than just a link.

Terry, I thought the same as you, but after re-reading her post, she may be transitioning EssentialsForHealthyLiving.com to another new website, not RV-dreams. Can you clarify, Sharon?
To clarify - My website has nothing to do with RV-Dreams.com
I was under the impression that this area of the forum was for posting non-related links to blogs and/or websites. Was I incorrect?
For the past 4 years, I've been developing my health coaching business and website. I write articles, post recipes with pictures, and offer resources for eating and living a healthier lifestyle. In my limited RV experience and observations, it appears that there may be an interest/need in learning how to make simple and healthy meals while on the road.
We had an interesting conversation with an RV salesman yesterday. He seems to think that only about 10% of RVers have any interest in cooking. I say that 100% of RVers still have to eat
The basis of simple, healthy meals comes from creating a healthy pantry (albeit a home kitchen or an RV kitchen), AND learning how to make healthier choices when eating out.
If anyone on this forum can enlighten me as to whether my observations are accurate or off the mark, I would be open to suggestions.
Thanks again for asking me to clarify my post

The RV salesman's perspective sounds about right. Remember, he's not only selling to full timers, who can be reasonably expected to be seriously interested in some aspect of cooking since they are also living in their house on wheels, but to the vast majority of casual(if I can use that term) RVers that only use their rigs on weekends or vacation and by and large do not eat and cook as they do at home. RV salespeople move a lot of pop-ups, small TTs, class C's, B's, teardops etc that are geared to the camping/vacation crowd and less so to the full timer crowd. Not saying that you can't eat healthy while camping, I just don't think the camping crowd, in general, thinks that way.

Sharon,
Yep. I read that wrong at first because I thought you spoke of "embedding" your website within RV Dreams. However, I see that you meant embedding the new "off-grid" site into your own "main" website. My apologies for reading it wrong.

When we were just weekend campers, I did the cooking at home then took the prepared food along on our camping trip. We mostly just grilled food then I brought along side dishes that I had already prepared.
Now that we live full time in the RV, I cook all the time in my small RV kitchen & we rarely eat out.
So when the RV salesperson said only a small number of RVers are interested in cooking, I think that may be true about weekenders or short-term campers. It may be less true about fulltimers.
Since we retired, we cut way back on eating out. Part of that can be attributed to now having the time to cook and part is due to the fact that I have a severe gluten allergy. I got tired of eating off of a gluten free menu, only to be cross contaminated by a careless kitchen worker. Funny to say, but the fast food joints are better at safe food than the full service restaurants. Go to Five Guys and order a gluten free burger and watch them kick into gear!
Anyway, healthy eating at home is a great thing. I will be sure to check out your websites!
