Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Straight Talk Hotspot from Walmart

biggrinbiggrin Bought the pre-paid Hotspot and loaded 3/2 gb cards since February. On the 27th of April called to load another card and the automated voice kept saying I had a refill pending and I could not load the new card.furiousfurious My computer had ran out of gb's and have only one computer so I could not go to the website. After what seemed liked endless days trying to call and 3 trips to Walmart the dilemma was caused by me.disbeliefdisbelief I had become so confused with this new fangled gadgetry that I was entering the wrong info and had done the reset of the device and had cancelled it's (handshake) with my computer. It could not decipher because I had erased the hotspots memory. biggrinbiggrin

Sometimes it is hard being HUMAN!!! winkwink Just like my memory; if it don't recieve the correct info it can't solve the problem!!! LOL!

THE VERY THING I MISS THE MOST IS MY MIND!!!

I learned to use a computer when floppies were really floppy and you needed two of them to run any program. I could even create my own macros, use Basic, and make the machine do what I wanted. Now I'm stuck with Windows 8.1 and it does whatever IT wants. Smart phones are too smart for what's left of my mind. My sympathies are with you...

Maybe that's why we RVers like to cook over an open fire - we are reverting to our caveman days.

LOL,,, I went to a Biz college and leaned computer programing when computers took up the entire room. You know, card punch, card sorters, huge spools ect. I programmed in RPG, BAL Cobol and Fortran. Yep,, pretty much useless now. And now I'm lucky to upload a picture.

Actually.. no the hotspot would not work very well for Netflix. Aside from it being pretty pricey, it's on the 3G network only - so it would be slow and low quality.

If you just need a little bit of data every so often for e-mail, basic web surfing - the StraightTalk hotspot deal may make sense. We've had reports of it actually being slower than other devices also using the Verizon 3G network too.

Pieere,  We have the walmart hotspot from straight talk as well.  works great when I do my part, i have had to change the password two times

being 72 seems to encourage forgeting little things like that.  Wrote it down, forgot where.   but after all is said and done it seems to work pretty well.

rather short range but in a fifth wheel so what.   saw that you are in Lebenan, Tn.  We are chattanoogans soon to be westward wanderers.

I sometimes think I could get a carrier pigeon to move data faster!!! LOL! It has unlimited dated but after the first 2 gb it slows down. If you add a card you don't get the speed back until the previous time runs out! It really don't impress me much.
