Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Cats and reflections?

Our Tazzy Kat has always loved to "attack" her reflection in a window, slider glass door, mirror, etc.  It was hilarious in the S&B, but relatively infrequent. It seems since moving into the RV that seeing "another cat" in our mirrored closet doors, fireplace or windows when the lighting is just right, is sending her into "spazzy Tazzy" mode.  Yes, it provides laughter, but today I found scratches on the mirrors as I was cleaning them.

Any suggestions?  I don't want my glass / mirrors to be scratched but to be honest, it's so hilarious and great entertainment, plus she's gets tons of exercise running crazy when she gets into Spazzy Tazzy mode that I don't want to be heavy handed kitty mom and stop it cold.

I sympathise with the damage to the RV, since our cat "spazzes" out once in a while and his rear claws dig into whatever surface (usually the kitchen table or bedroom bureau) that he happens to be standing on. although it's funny to watch him, its not so funny to see the damage he causes. Our daughter recently noticed the "tic tac toe" scratches on the kitchen table :(
We try to keep his claws trimmed, which cuts down on the damage. If you don't want to trim them yourself, a groomer or vet will do it pretty cheap.

Have you seen the nail caps you can put over your cat's claws? It helps protect your stuff, and still allows you to appreciate your cat's spazzy moments without worry. And if you get the caps in funky colors, it adds to the entertainment :)

When Kiki was a kitten, we had to use them until we got her calmed down a bit. One spazzy moment, and we were the ones with the tic-tac-toe markings on our legs, arms, backs, etc.

There seems to be several brands out now.. google around for Soft Claws, Cat Nail Caps, etc.
