Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We got the funds for our Trilogy so will begin planning how to get it home. Am paying the dealer to ship it from Ohio to the republik of Cali. Next step is to modify the Volvo to accommodate the trailer and the Smart. Need a hitch for the trailer and a couple of rails for the Smart to allow us to move about the country until we can get our bed built. All that is left is to eliminate family responsibilities and wait patiently for retirement in 636 days, not that I'm counting. I'd dance naked in the streets but I can't use the new house from jail. And it's December. We don't want anything to get frostbite.

Yeah, well about that, Mike. I'm one of only seven in this state legally. They are not likely to let me go that easy. I'm thinking I may have to use the Underground Railroad to escape!

If you haven't already, there are numerous videos on my web/blog on the Trilogy - especially the Man Cam's on his modifications
Can't wait to see pics

Mark, congratulations! Love you humor and your choice of rig. We're sorry we couldn't work out our schedules while we were in your area. You will be so happy to not be working those 70 hour weeks!
Hope the rest of your plans and execution go smoothly.
Sherry

Sincere congratulations. Very pleased for you.We know much of the feeling but from a different perspective.
You have a great advantage over many as you have the mechanical knowledge to deal with the truck and the issues that come with a new trailer.
Will be curious about who you will get to do the Smart car ramp conversion.I’ve seen several and they are “interesting.”Especially the one with a lift that also rotates the Smart 90 degrees on the truck.
Bill, I am considering just adding a couple of rails for the Smart initially. Once we are free, we will go to Denver and my nephew will build the bed. He has experience with truck beds. We will try to incorporate some coolness. I have some workspace ideas and he builds a bed where the back is reminiscent of a corvette. I'm hoping for a head turner.
Sherry, I am so looking forward to that "last paycheck". It will only get more difficult to report for work once the fiver is parked in the yard. But, I have a lot to do in preparation. We bought one of the induction hot plates at bed, bath, and beyond. Can't wait to move it from the garage into our new portable home. They have some parts ordered for it so they must be taking the delivery pretty seriously. Kind of glad to hear that.

It sounds like you are doing what we are aiming for. Someway to have a long bed on the truck so we can put a 'Smart' up behind the cab and have the trailer hitch behind it. We really did not want a scout or chase vehicle, because I like riding with the hubby, but he wants something to go around town in that is not as big as the tow vehicle.
So keep us up to date on your Truck. BTW there is a company that has a lift to put your Smart car on your truck automatically. Probably really expensive though. Ill have to see If I can find the link again.
Wendy, this is an easy task as long as we are talking about a truck. I am a cynic, so please don't take me too seriously. I know that people make a habit of calling 2500s, 3500s and 4500s "trucks". They are cute and have their place but my definition of truck requires a 12 to 16 liter engine, air brakes and a 10 to 18 speed transmission. I can set my fifth wheel on end on the rear axles of my truck and not overload them. My truck weighs more than my trailer. I could go on, but I won't.
