Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I get so many "male enhancement" and "hot girl" spams it's amazing, particularly since I'm female...!

Did you get this through private message here on RV Dreams?  If so, you might want to contact Howard and Linda with the username of the spammer.  So far this morning, I've not personally received any and haven't yet seen it on the open forums themselves.

The last couple of days I have banned two IP addresses....Furniture store spam and another Cabinetry both appeared to be from England....Terry and I can not delete or ban PM spammers only Board posters....

I'm confused as to why it isn't as easy to ban PM spammers as it is Board posters. I haven't had trouble with either here.

Our basic moderator control only allows us action Via the boards and public postings....these Spammers are banned because we continually patrol the boards and members can also alert us with a .PM...Some spammers will join the Forum and go direct to PM Spam without hitting the boards, we have no way of knowing about these unless we are informed by the recipient...

Good information. I know a couple of times early in the morning, I have seen spam on the board but wasn't sure how to report it. Thanks.

If a spammer uses only private messaging, only Howard and Linda have the "rights" to ban them.  When they hit, they usually hit numerous usernames, and even though Gene and I can go to the spammers profile, there isn't a way for us to ban their IP.  We could possibly mess them up in some way, but we can't hit their IP.  We had one a year or so ago that was posting in the forums about lights and they were out of China.  I'd ban their IP and then the next thing I knew, they would be back again.  Evidently they had access to multiple IP addresses and only Howard could address that in some way.

Howard must have handled it since I also saw the spam message about bridal dresses. I didn't worry about notifying anyone since I know these things get handled on this forum. We have diligent and wonderful moderators.
