Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Good Sam's - address changes

We've been full time for a almost 4 months, changed addresses on line and made at least 7 calls to Good Sam's and still are getting mail forwarded from the old address to our mail forwarding company.

Any suggestions?  This is getting frustrating.

This is normal for them. What services do you have with them? I know they like to junk mail one to near death. We moved last year and am still trying to get it straightened out with them. Now, they claim that our records are correct. I would suggest you'll have to sound angry and ask for a supervisor. Asking for a supervisor whenever you have an issue on the phone is always the best path. It is possible that their "junk" mail will take awhile to redirect though but I would ask when I could expect that to stop when I talked with a supervisor. It did not use to be this way with them since we have moved numerous times over the years and never had this problem.

Have you filled out the "yellow - new address card with the post office" or gone online at USPS.com to update your address? You probably have but if not that's the problem. Mailers are required to run the address data file against the "move update" file, therefore this process might changing your address back to the WA address where the PO thinks you still live.

Or

If you have changed your address with the PO and marketing within Good Sams may be using an old address file to mail from and the mailer may not be running the update or the move update file isn't associating you with the new address when they run the file.

Ruth I know this won't change your mail forwarding issue but it might help you understand what might be happening.

Another thought. Is there a way to tell Good Sam not to mail you anything? That you only want online communications. This is what I'm doing to prepare for our new lifestyle.

We've called them more than once, even asked to be put on the "only items we've requested list" and it's still not working. We've done all the official address change things through USPS. We've gone online with Good Sam's and updated things, we've called and told them the trailer we had an extended warranty on was sold last April and they can remove us from that list, we've called yet a different department and every time I talk to someone it sounds like they have so many different departments, with different data bases, that it's hopeless to think they ever coordinate things.

Dale's comment on this made me laugh, it's just yet another example of a "corporation run amuck", departments don't talk to each other and their systems don't communicate internally and the customer is left dealing with their ineptness. Yep, sounds just like a big corporation to meno

Ruth, sorry for your frustration. I wished I could have given you an idea to try. I think Dale is right, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

I normally just drop there services if they dont listen to me the customer.........there competition knows there faults and also knows its very easy to make a business grow by giving the customer what they want........

even the post office is bad.......they wanted me to get a bigger PO box for more money because the junk mail didnt fit into the one I had!

I suggest going over to the RV.net forum and telling the Good Sam representatives over there the problem.  The have public forums for jus that purpose.  They usually get things taken care quickly.  http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm

When I had issues with the inefficiency and just plain negligence involved with having Good Sam (National General) insurance, I posted it on RV.net and was sent an pm asking for my info from the Good Sam rep. The company then called me more times than I cared for. We still cancelled our insurance to go with the local insurance company that has our house policy and wants the business and it saved us a generous amount of money over the discount of 10 years with the Good Sam affiliated company.
