Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I spent the long weekend moving stuff from the house to the RV. This morning hubby took it to the dealer for some warranty repairs. Does anyone ever worry about leaving your home and all your belongings at a repair shop? Of course I would remove smaller, expensive items ( not yet moved to the RV in my case) but it just hit me a few minutes ago that these folks have access to all my goodies!
Depends on the repair facility! If you have used this shop in the past and have been happy with their work and professionalism, then I wouldn't worry.
I on the other hand am not a very trusting person so I usually remove the stuff that means a lot to me and of course you don't want to tempt anyone by leaving expensive jewelry or electronics in plain sight. I usually take pictures of the exterior and interior before dropping my vehicles off for repairs (be sure to have the date and time stamp on the photos) and this has saved my butt a few times. Took my new F-250 into the Ford Dealer for its first oil change and the mechanic scrubbed the sidewall of my right front tire on the lift, either did this exiting or entering the shop. Took a big chunk of rubber out of the sidewall and they had to replace the tire at no charge to me. The service manager asked how I knew they were responsible (it was obviously a fresh gouge) for the damage and I pulled out my digital camera...case closed. Always do a thorough walk around when dropping off and picking up the vehicle and if you take digital photos, do it in their parking lot so they can’t claim it happened on the way to the shop.

Yep, just the guns and rings 'n things. We've had the 5iver in the shop a few times and never felt that someone went through our "stuff". But you never know, so take care with your treasures. Pat K

Thanks Azrving! That's a great idea. I haven't cared much for the house tours either. Just feels like an invasion of my privacy. Probably aligning my feelings to my new home (in 16 days!!!)
Grams - another option that worked really well for us in South Dakota was a Mobile RV Service Tech, in this case we used Jim's RV Repair, found out he summers in SD, winters in AZ. Guess who we're calling this winter when we're in AZ if we need service? Yep, he was great to work with, came to our "home", fought with the extended warranty and we didn't leave our home. I did move Tazzy Kat into the bedroom and closed the door to the living area, just to make sure that as he and his assistant were coming in and out numerous times with parts, tools, etc. that she didn't slip out.
