Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Anyone out there have a 2011 caliber. I have one and i think it is a lemon. this is the e-mail i sent heartland rv.
I have an 2011 caliber for 2 1/2 years now. After 2 months 2 of the cabinet doors fell off. In the last 2 years I had to replace the power converter and replace the wiring from the plug behind the couch to the breaker box. The plug on the back wall below the window had to be replaced and they also had to put new wiring in. On that plug they told me the wrong gauge wire was installed. They had to put the right gauge wire in. The hot water heater had to have the element replaced. On the slide out all the wires were hanging down and out.The flexguard broke and they had to replace it. The trailer is back in the shop now. Now they have to redo the seams on the roof. Two of the roof vents cracked and they have to be replaced. Two speakers also fell apart. Water was coming into the trailer. The paint on front of the trailer is all faded. The liner under the trailer had to be re-taped.
I feel that all of these issues are the results of manufacturing defects from poor quality materials and workmanship, and that I should be reimbursed for some of the costs I have spent since I owned the trailer.
I have spent over $3,500.00 to pay for repairs to date on these repairs.
Based on JT's first sentence, most of that comment appears to be the text of an e-mail that he sent Heartland.
However, I believe that I would also get on the phone. E-mails are so impersonal and a phone call at least allows the listener on the other end hear one's frustration and perhaps, even a wee bit of anger (but not much.) One doesn't want to irritate the ones that might really be able to help.

Does Heartland warranty their Caliber models for 2 1/2 years? That sounds pretty good if they do.
Are you full-timing in it? Most of the problems sound like shoddy workmanship, which unfortunately is common these days, but some, such as the converter, roof vents, speakers and water heater problems sound like vendor QC issues, not manufacturer issues. It's like if one of your tires fails on your GM car, the tire manufacturer warranties their tire, not GM. In other words if WFCO made your converter and it failed, it's WFCO's problem, not Heartland's fault (since they had no control over its manufacture but purchased and installed it in good faith. However if Heartland somehow caused it to fail by installing sub-standard wiring then they just bought it as a consequential damage of an improper installation. It's possible that improper installation, such as over-torquing screws could have caused some of these things to fail.
I wish you luck, but at the 2.5 yr mark, I doubt you will get much satisfaction from the manufacturer. I hope I am wrong, for your sake. Let us know how you do. Maybe if you voiced your opinion strongly on the Heartland forum you might get their attention if they fail to give you satisfaction.
