Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Looking for a friendly place to start

I am a 50 something female seriously considering buying an RV to travel around in because I can work virtually.  My kids are grown, out of the house now & I certainly need to get out and meet some people to fill my time.  I thought I would start by renting an RV first to get a first hand feel for how I like it before making the bigger investment.  I am thinking my first trip will be in late September or October.  I live in Ohio and am looking to stay east of Mississippi for this first trip and could use some recommendations on some RV parks that would be really friendly to help make it easier on me.  Any suggestions?  I am a bit of an introvert, am I out of my mind for considering this?

Karen,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  You will soon see that there are a lot of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful folks here.  It that is the kind of people you take a liking to, you'll find the same kind in campgrounds and RV parks.  If you seem to be having problems with something, many will offer to help.  If you want to strike up a conversation, they generally will be right there with you.  So, even if you are "a bit" of an introvert, you may find this lifestyle beneficial to make you a bit less.

Feel free to ask questions and make comments.  Glad to have you as part of the family.

Oh, and your plan of renting first is a good idea, although it might get a bit expensive for that as well.  Good luck with it all.

We are in the Northwest working in a small, private campground. We see quite a few rented RV's come in and BY FAR, the people renting from Camping World are better advised how to use and set up their units which are cleaner and well equipped as well. Some places that rent basically show you a video and hand you the keys. One family who rented from another place didn't even have a sewer hose.

Just want your first RV experience to be a good one.

As Sherry said: Make sure you rent from an RV outlet that explains every thing to you first hand. Have them go over any thing that ???'sss you!!! Campground management and other RVers will assist you; but out on the open highway it may be a different story and you will have some knowledgeable people to call. This forum has many who have had the experiences; good or not and will answer many ???'sss. Pieere
