Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
You get the West or East Coast feed depending on your service address. Years ago, Direct used to supply both.
Now, if you want the other coast feed, if you can find any intelligence, and someone that can speak english, at Direct TV customer service, you can sign up for the other coast at $5.00 extra a month.
The $5.00 charge for the additional charge was what was offered to us when they changed to one feed. We declined.

Searched the archives but could only come up with info from past when Direct TV was stopping the dual coast feeds. We recently sent in the paperwork for DNS, West Coast. I have had so much frustration with them on the phone, I thought I'd ask my question here before I called.( I've had receiver trouble, and they charge $7.00/mo for a protection plan on it, but refuse to come to an RV Park, period, while at the same time telling me they do provide service) How do you know when they have given you the DNS Channels? Do you just have to keep checking "Channels I get" every day, or is there some sort of notification beforehand?. Thanks as always,
Richard

Yep, That's pretty much, that is what you have to do. Check the channel guide and make sure you have the menu set to "Channels I Get."
BTW, much of the problem comes from the fact that “mobile” service and the government regulations (actual paper) complicate a problem for the very very few of us who need this service. The CSR’s just don’t know about us much less than 1%’ers. Most of the time it requires asking to speak directly to a supervisor for "mobile service." Regardless of who you speak with, the paper is what turns it on. The service will show up if you mailed the paper and gave all the info required by the government (FCC) regulations.
BTW, you will probably get the east and west coast feeds of the standard definition DNS in addition to the west coast HD feed assuming you did indeed sign up for HD. For some reason, never been able to sort that one out and I was in the biz, why the government would allow standard definition feeds for both east and west coast but only east OR west coast HD feeds.

New info, good. How recently did you sign up and find out about the $5/month for both east and west HD. HD specifically please. That's new or sort of new.
We had the protection plan as well. When we signed up they came and set us up at the campground in the RV. When we had a problem a year later, they said our protection plan doesn't cover mobile service. I had to call enough times to finally get to a supervisor who did send someone out to fix the problem and did not charge us for it. It took a week of calling every day and complaining nonstop. Their customer service is awful.

I guess that is why we are using Dish Network, customer service has been great, on site service has been great, DNS Service with both East Coast and West Coast feeds has been great.

Not exactly new. Direct used to supply both feeds as part of their basic package. A few years ago they dropped that and went to one feed only. We found out when they solicited us to pay the $5.00 extra for the west coast feed. We are SD but it should be the same for HD.

Well, I got the DNS service yesterday. I only became aware by calling customer service and having them verify that the charge was added to the bill. Then after three attempts at transfer to the specific department for DNS got to speak to a guy named Seth who knew what he was doing. FYI, the DNS channels are between 389-398. Even # are east coast, odd west coast. You need to get the forms sent to you and return them with a copy of your RV registration to get this done. That said, it works really well. Richard.
