Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

anyone have experience with used Excel 5th Wheel

We're looking at possibly finding a used Excel 5th wheel.  Does anyone have experience with used model?

I don.t understand the question. Have you found an Excel you are interested in, or is this a fishing expedition? Excel RVs are generally expected to be one of the 5 or so best. I looked at www.pplmotorhomes.com and did a search for Excel 5th wheels and came up with 5 pages of used Excels. Any used RV is going to be based on an inspection, performed either by you or by a licensed inspector. Caveat emptor.

Excel makes an excellent product but individual units can vary a lot depending on how they were taken care of and how old they are. Do you have one particular one in mind? I know that what was Nu-Wa's website had a couple of used ones the last time I visited their website and they looked really nice. They to me represent a "classic" look. You might be more specific about age of the RVs you are considering, price range you are looking for and what specifically are you concerned about with a used unit.

Sounds to me like the OP may have seen one and liked what they saw, or maybe they have been lurking for some time and have heard good things about Excel coaches. They are in the Milwaukee area, so I'm guessing that there are some larger RV dealerships there.

Thanks to you all.  There are no dealers in Wisconsin or within less than 4 hours away that sell Excel brand.  We have searched and know there is now a dealer in Michigan.  We also have never seen one at any RV show that we have attended - even the bigger one in Chicago.  But we have read that they are highly rated.  We saw one when at the RV Dreams rally and thought it looked well made - that was a 2012 Winslow.  We would be interested in a Winslow.   Will post again with more specifics about the kind and year we are interested in.    (What is OP ?) thanks.

"OP" is the person that started the thread. Most forums use that and it helps to keep things straight if there are a lot of posts.

We have lived FT in an Excel for 3 years. Like most 5th wheels things do come up but overall we have been very happy with our rig. They do hold up well over to time if taken care of but like any used rv, you need to do your due dillegance in checking it out thoroughly. Good luck in your search.

This is an excel dealer in Sheldon Iowa. My husband and I looked at them there and they were very helpful. The only concern we had was the wood frame on the side walls.
We want steel and have decided on the DRV Elite. but EXCEL is a wonderful and attractive 5th wheel.

I was going to buy an Excel. What I wanted was a 2006 FLR35 limited. I found 2 in 6 months of searching. 1 was overpriced anbd refused to budge, the other sold in 12 hours of being listed. My wife got this CarriLite instead.

I own an older 33' Limited Edition and have been happy with it. As a used unit it has it's issues, but nothing that for me was a deal breaker.  They are heavy because of the wood and that is to be expected. While we could debate pros and cons of all the brands out there, you do need to do your homework, visit as many models as possible, and try to spend time in one that appeals to you.

They seem to hold their value as well as some of the other top brands.  Just be sure you do as much inspection as possible, don't forget brakes, springs, all that good stuff that is a little harder to see. The prior owner should have good records of service and repairs.

Good luck and enjoy this part of the adventure.
