Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dish Tailgater

Thank you so much. I'll do the math on the contract pricing and decide if it's convenient for us. We plan to stay on the road all year long

I need TV for my trailer and I am thinking about getting the Tailgater from Dish, saw this $199 offer with free shipping on www.getthetailgater.com . Has anyone  bought from them before?I've found it in other places way more expensive. Thanks

the reason you find it way more expensive elsewhere is written in small print in your contract when you order that package......kinda like buying a 600 dollar cell phone for a penny.......you will pay for it, its hidden in the pricing and duration of your 2 yr contract your about to sign!!

I have the Tailgater and I purchased mine from Tweetys.com along with the receiver 211K (that is the only receiver you can use with it)

We mounted our Tailgater above our ladder with the mounting bracket we also purchased from Tweety's. Shipping was wonderful we
had our unit in only 2 days.

Our Tailgater has worked flawlessely, we have the Pay-as-you-go-plan so we can choose when we want to pay and watch TV as
our travels permit.

The Tailgater is a good little unit, we like it alot and highly recommend it if you plan on sticking with DishNetwork.

IMHO, you want to purchase both your Tailgater and Receiver out right from a place like Tweetys so you don't end up
with a "contract" that you have to deal with, especially if you are planning on using the "Pay-as-you-go-service".

I agree with mary.......I also would look at the Vucube 1000.....it has a little more functions for your dollar....Several on ebay with the receiver for a good price........

Not an answer for you, but just a question as to your needs.  It has been mentioned by some on the forums here that DirectTV is a better system for RV'ers, partly because of DNS considerations and for number of HD channels.  Thus, would limiiting yourself to Dish Network be a problem?  I don't know enough about the different satellite dish systems, but are there any that will work with both Dish and DirectTV?
