Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

While I can't say what state would be best for your circumstances, keep in mind that with many states you might have to return to the state to renew your driver's license.  Should Alaska be one of those that required you to return (I have no idea if they do), you would be traveling a long ways to renew.

I don't know if you are familiar with using a website's "Site Map" but a lot of times one can find a lot of information there.  Howard and Linda's site map is at the link below.

We are not Rvers yet, however we are doing everything we can to make it happen. My question is after researching the residency I had come across the idea of being an Alaskan resident. Though I am having troubles finding much information for this. If someone can please help me with this thought I would really appreciate it. Also, is this some that many of you have decided as well. My husband and I would love to take a trip to Alaska as well to stay a bit. It is in our list of ideas.

You need a street address in Alaska and need to apply for your driver's license in person and I don't think a rental car would cut it. Recently they allow you one 5 year mail renewal, before you always had to renew the driver's license in person. To get the dividend (annual money) you need to live in Alaska 6 months over the winter.
