Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Ok, wanted nicer chair in my motorhome and so worked into my purchase a nice recliner to replace the chair that is next to the kitchen counter. Everyone loved the new chair, the only problem is that with both the slides in, the couch and chair touch. The RV is having other thing done to it right now and I have asked them to put the original chair back in. Has anyone ever build a plate for a chair that would allow it to slide back when the slides are in and back out when the slides are out? Is there a company that makes an aftermarket lounge chair with a moveable base plate on it. Just would really like a lazy boy style chair that moves in and out.

First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  Glad to have you as part of the "family."

We aren't in a motorhome, but we did replace the two original recliners with a La-Z-Boy Reclinaway love seat.  There is no "base plate" involved and we just move the La-Z-Boy back and forth by hand when we need to move the slides..

The only other thing I could think of is possibly turning the chair 90 degrees before pulling in the slides.  That is, of course, assuming that the chair is "deeper" than it is wide.

Sorry, that I can't think of how one could make such a thing as an automatic operation of moving the chair.

We turn the recliner on it's side and put the heavy/biggest part back toward the rear wall, pointing the higher part of the chair toward the center of where the slides come together. Works for us, though it is a tad inconvienent. ps...we're looking for new chair also, and it has to be big and comfortable enough for Charlie. (the one we are currently using comes from the s & b, as does our couch) Pat K
