Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Girard tank-less water heater or any other tank-less water heaters? pros and cons? It seems like it would be a good thing, less weight, endless hot water if hooked up to water, less fuel to run it.
I was looking at the rv 500, but have not seen it working. Before I drop down a 1000.00 I would like to see it in action. But I to love the idea of endless hot water. I always look for them at RV shows but have never seen any dealers
I can't answer to the effectiveness of any of the tankless water heaters, but I'll just throw out a thought that I've had regarding them for some time.
Being familiar with propane because I used to be in the busines of delivering the stuff, I would think that for a LP tankless heater to work it would have to have a significantly larger amount of flame in order to really heat the water up as it passes by the burner(s).
With that in mind, I'm not sure I want a system on an RV with that much of a flame that is not where it can be monitored at all times. For instance, I can see the large amount of flame on the cooktop, but I couldn't on a tankless water heater.
Perhaps, thay are safe, but I won't have one.

Note: Since we on 50AMP without a meter 90% of the time, we heat our hot water with electricity most of the time. We are willing to live with the limits of a 10 gallon hot water tank. But not everyone is like us and using propane exclusively is fine for many, especially if they want endless hot water.

Your link just brought me right back to the same thread where you posted it.
However, if one is logged in and uses the search function with "tankless hot water" as a search phrase, there are a number of threads dealing with that style of heater, although perhaps not about the Girard units.

Activeboard is very strange since this thread is t49802881 and the one I linked to was t45381938. Anyway it was down the "RV Accessories" forum with a title of "Endless Hot Water".
