Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This is such a long story don t know where to start . I try to do everything right but it never works out, after getting through the ordeal of the new heartland bighorn my new used dodge dually lost power 20 miles before going over the 18 mile chesapeke bay bridge,could not accelerate more than 45mph luckily we were going to pull in to a campground 5 miles before the bridge for the night , so I guess you can say we were lucky it happened there. Now lets backup 3 mos . I found this truck in florida owned by a lady that used it 1 time to pull a 43 ft mobile suites it was set up with a hitch and aux tank 410 rear 6 sp tranny and in great shape with 45,000 miles.I drove it back to N.J and it purred getting 22.5 mpg,so I put 6 new tires on it changed the oil and fuel filter and had it detailed for the trip to Texas. Coming back from Fl I never put fuel in the aux tank untill I got home and put 50 Gal in. 2 days before leaving I transfered 35 gal into the main tank, that was Mon the 26th , Tues we had to take the microwave out of the new unit and replace it with one from another unit,Wed we left. We logged about 190 miles when we lost power, Engine light came on chimes rang on the on board computer and service required came up on the computer screen.Drove into Norfolk Virginia today to get serviced and they replaced the new fuel which had no more than 300 miles on it and wanted to drop the main tank and throw out the 35 Gallons of fuel that they said was contaminated. I refused that and left with a 300 bill and now I feel that I have contaminated my tank an h ow many times am I going to have to replace this filter on my way to texas, so we are headed out tomorrow an hope for the best
Would have been cheaper to drain the bad fuel.Not only will you continue to plug the filters you chance damaging the injector pump and you DON'T want to pay for one of those.

RVing probably not a reality any more.It was a good time while it lasted.
Go back and get that fuel drained out of the tank. Save yourself a lot of grief and possibly a huge repair bill.

Don't DRAIN the tank, have it removed and chemically cleaned. There is just no reliable way to get it all drained out. Removal and proper cleaning is the only way to go. Here, a bunch of dollars spent is much better than a boatload of money to replace the lines, pump and filter housing. There is just no replacement for clean fuel.
First make sure the fuel us contaminated.. See a sample for yourself.. I had a garage that said it was contaminated fuel ,paid big bucks to drop and clean only to find out after the problem occurred in a couple of days time that it was the injectors not the fuel. Did not like paying again.
