Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
To all,
I've just started using this forum, and in creating a post I see an entry box at the bottom labeled Tags. Is this used to facilitate searches or what? Are there any standardized tags in use on the forum? If so, where can I find the list?
I've searched the forum for an answer but I didn't find anything. Then again I might just be dense
When a new "Topic" is started, the person who starts the topic has the option of putting in "key words" in the "tag" box on that first comment screen. Those tags will then show up beside the topic title as people are searching through the forum.
Once a "tag" is out there, then anyone can click on a particular "tag" and all topics that have been "tagged" with that keyword will come up.
For example, a couple of people have tagged topics with "Fifth Wheel". If you click on a "Fifth Wheel" tag, all the topics that have been "tagged" with that keyword show up. It's an easy way to search for topics if the tag feature is used properly and consistently.
So far, tagging hasn't been of much use in this forum because we haven't really promoted the feature and very few topics have been tagged. It works best if everyone uses it AND they create relevant, useful tags.
Unfortunately, only a few folks that came to this Forum knowing what "tags" could do for them have used them. So, clicking on a tag may help you narrow a search, but on this forum, because most topics aren't tagged, you would miss a lot of good info searching that way.
