Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Convection oven calculator


I've been struggling a bit getting used to only having a convection/microwave and no gas oven.

My daughter found a website that will convert the time & temperature of a regular recipe into the proper time & temp for cooking in a convection oven.  Thought it might be helpful to other folks who only have a convection oven.  Here's the website:  http://convection-calculator.com/

Convection ovens often use a fan to make heat more even throughout the oven's interior.
Microwaves cook the food directly, or are you talking about a combination convection\microwave oven?

When in the convection mode it works like a regular oven (at least the one we had in our CruiseAmerica rental did) . . .we baked the biscuits at 450 for 12 minutes just like in a standard oven. The microwave part of the oven doesn't come on during convection baking; there's a regular heating element that makes hot and a fan to blow the heat around the inside.

I've heard some say that to use the convection oven, one has to either reduce the temperature or reduce or lengthen the length of time for cooking.  Not being a cook, I have no idea of what one would need, so in that case the calculator would be helpful.

In our case, we have the GE Advantium combination microwave/convection oven.  I have no idea whether Jo has to adjust any time or temperatures to use it, and since she is asleep right now, I'm not waking her up to find out.  Maybe someone else can clarify this.

We have a microwave/convection oven combination. I've only used it a couple of times in the oven mode, but I have had to turn the temperature down by about 15-20 degrees. I was able to find the manufacturer's book on-line, and got instructions that way.

When baking with convection, I've been turning the temp down 25 degrees from the standard recipe which has worked fairly well.  I did still burn a loaf of pumpkin bread, so I'm watching things closely to prevent burning.
