Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Sprint Removing Unlimited Data on 4G WiMAX - November

In November when this change happens customers enjoying unlimited 4G WiMAX will no longer have that luxury and will be billed $.05/MB for going over their limit. This will effect anybody using a 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot or USB Modem.

More details are available here - Sprint Removing Unlimited Data from Wireless Modems, 4G WiMAX Included

I'm not surprised by this. There's $$$ in data plans, especially for those streaming video.

I have a Sprint 3G/4G hot spot, been working great, even with only 3G here (most places don't get 4G anyways) I got the 10 GB plan, since I have an online business which involves uploading and downloading large MP3 music files, web pages, ebooks, PDFs, etc. It's about $90 a month (ouch!) but my first month, I only used about 4 GB, and that's with being online 6-7 hours a day sometimes, and lots of uploading.

I was giving Comcast $140+ a month for phone, internet and TV, so I guess now I'll just be giving that to Sprint! Since I don't have TV, I can feel freer to watch You Tube videos and movies online, since I have GBs to burn. I think the 5GB plan would be more than enough for most people.

This information must pertain to new contracts only, or perhaps to contracts with a current data limit.

I just checked my unlimited everything contract and it still shows unlimited sprint data, unlimited data roaming, unlimited minutes, and unlimited roaming minutes for $0 cost.

Matt did say 3G/4G.  Is yours strictly a 3G?  If so, that might be the difference.

Mine is both 3G/4G using a Sprint EVO 4G phone. In fact Sprint charges a $10 monthly premium for each 4G phone on a family plan. I couldn't imagine them charging extra for 4G service and then not allowing a person to use the service they are paying for. The only place a person can get 4G is in large metro areas which are the very places I avoid taking a 45 ft RV with a towed. I think I use 3G 99% of the time and it seems to work very fast. As of today, Nov. 30, I do not see any changes in my contract or billing; I will keep my fingers crossed that I will not see any changes in my contract. I do fear that perhaps new customers will not be getting one of these legacy contracts! Time will tell.

In our market (Salt Lake City) Sprint is still advertising their unlimited data plans. I  personally have a unlimited Corperate Account and there has been no changes to my billing.

Here is today's advertisement for Sprint Unlimited with the Everything Data Plan for $79.99. In fact, the advertisement clearly states unlimited data on their network while all others have data limits or data throttling. So enjoy your phone, computer, and notebook with unlimited data and fast speeds.

That is for phones . Not data dedicated devices

To add to what Max Signal said, unlimited does not apply to USB modems/aircards. Sprint can be a pain on USB modems, limiting you to 300MB per month of roaming and having high overage charges. The 300MB roaming limit has burned people I know.

To clarify Max Signal is correct and this on applies to Data Cards - Sprint Updates Pricing Plans Mobile USB/Hotspots

Also, to clarify their cellular phones are unlimited until you add the mobile hotspot feature. If this is added then you will be subjected to a tiered data plan just like the USB devices.
