Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I saw in yesterday's forum that Linda is having problems with her Keurig. We have had a Keurig for a couple of years and we really like it but it does require cleaning of the water ports with a paper clip from time to time. We had purchased the reusable filter basket so that we could use different coffee flavors as we desired. We found that the reusable basket sold by Keurig will allow coffee grounds to clog the upper needle that sprays water into the K-cup.
My wife found reusable lids at the following site www.my-kap.com that allows reuse of your K-cup filters. You simply take a used K-cup, remove the foil top, clean out the coffee grounds, lightly brush and clean under running water and reuse. The lids are a bit pricey but we have had very good luck with them. We have been able to reuse each K-cup at least 12 - 18 times before the filter medium tears.
Hope this helps - my wife and I do love the coffee our Keurig makes!
I love my Keurig as well and I also bought the metal caps that allows to reuse the KCups....however, I have not had good luck with them. They are not allowing the "door" to close when I press down - I have to hold it down in order for it to brew.
I love to use the "MyKCup" which allows me to use my own coffee.
Any hints on how I can make the metal caps work better would be appreciated.

Okay....I've heard alot about the Keurig, but I thought the little cups with the coffee in them was for a one time use. I wondered why anyone would want to pay that much money for one cup of coffee made at home! I'm now going to really have to look into this!
We too have a Keurig. We are not very happy with it...sorry to say. We're actually on our third one. When we call customer service, they help us walk through some cleaning steps, but when they don't work, they send us a new one. It's a great idea, but not very well built. Also, since we're still in our sticks and bricks, we have the larger model, and we bring it with us when we RV...but there's no way to actually empty all of the water out of the machine. Bad design. We would not recommend this coffee maker to anyone out their. They are expensive, the k-cups are expensive and they are not well made.
