Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

VuCube

Does anyone out there use a VuCube for satellite TV? I was thinking of getting one as a backup. One of my concerns would be someone walking off with it. I do like the fact that it gets it power through the coax cable.

Ken,

I will be following the responses to your question since Jo and I are also interested is something like the VuCube.  You may have already found them, but there are also at several different threads on the RV Dreams forums regarding the VuCube and other systems.

If you haven't done so already, use the search function of the forum and put in "satellite" as your search term and you'll get several other threads that may also touch on satellite systems.

We too are looking for a more portable solution. Really not too worried about anyone stealing. Maybe I'm too trusting, but we've never had any problems on that front.

One of the things to be aware of with the VuCube is that it will only connect to 1 box/tv. Not sure if would be a problem for you or not, but it is something to be aware of.

Just so happens we purchased a VuCube sometime around 2 years ago. Mine is the early model that does not automatically locate the satellite, but must be directed with the remote control. Takes about 5 minutes or less to set up. Newer models practically set themselves up with satellite location. I still utilize the rooftop antennae for local stations, but would not leave home without the VuCube...available at most Camping Worlds.
