Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

VirginMobile no contract unlimited data for $40/mo

Just FYI -- new unlimited data plan is now live on VirginMobile's website:

Wow!  I hope some people here get it so I can hear how it does.  We are hoping to go full time next year and one thing I'll want is some kind of internet access.

Before getting excited about this, you may want to check out their coverage area.

This from their own website:

HUGE areas of "no coverage".

fyi, when using virgin mobile's coverage map, make sure you turn on the checkbox for 'high speed' (located above the map)

virgin mobile uses sprint's network which is known to have more total 3g data coverage than ATT, but less rural 3G data coverage than verizon... of course, verizon's contracted service is also $20/mo more, and their pre-paid no-contract service is 2x more.

anyway, i think everyone would agree that there is no single carrier who has coverage everywhere.

i'm hopeful that the major carriers take note of virgin mobile's attempts to steal market share away, and lower their own prices.

Thanks, Terry.  That coverage doesn't look good at all!  When the time comes I'd better do a lot of research to make sure I get what I want!

Alex has been very helpful everywhere I see him.

Once you click "High Speed" and drill down one zoom level you will see more orange on that map. Yes, there are many holes but that is true of Sprint's network, which VirginMobile is using.

For me I am looking at it to fill in the holes where Verizon does not have good service, including some places we have family, and to get more than 5GB per month. At this time we carry a Hughes.net satellite dish in addition to a Verizon aircard because of places with lousy or non-existent Verizon service and because we do use more than 5GB most months.
