Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Wilson Phone Booster

I'm sure this has been covered many times but I did a search and came up with only 6 topics that didn't really answer my question. I am looking to get a Wilson booster. I have talked (well through email) with 2 separate places and I am more confused that I was when I started doing research. I have a LG CU400 and the wife has a Blackberry Curve. I was originally looking at a directconnect set up but it will not work with the Blackberry. I have also looked at the SignalBooster and the wireless set up. I seem to keep getting conflicting info about all of these. My question is what is everyone using? Is directconnect better than wireless? If there is a considerable difference the wife is willing to go with a different phone. I want to get the most bang for my buck and I am willing to spend the money (within reason and before we go on the road) to get the most reliable boost I can. Thanks in advance.

Chris

First off Wilson is not your only choice, Cyfre makes excellent equipment also.
It sounds like you have already determined that one of your phones does not have an external antenna jack.   Wilson does make a passive adapter, the 359914, but only some places carry it like this one - http://www.wpsantennas.com/359914-passiveantennaadapter.aspx. The passive adapter does not boost as well as a wired adapter, but would let you use a wired amplifier.

Good wireless amplifiers require setting up an external antenna, running wires inside and then using a small antenna off the wireless amplifier to provide a small cell tower inside.  The top of the line full kit from 3GStore is http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=292_300&products_id=1627 at $641.84. The other choice is http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=292_300&products_id=1581 at $535.70. The Cyfre version is https://www.maximumsignal.net/store/product.php?productid=16138&cat=2&page=1 for $409.95.

Yea I am finding out there are lots of choices out there and it is hard to figure out whats best for us. The wife is willing to give up the blackberry but I have to decide if we are going to stay with AT&T or go with Verizon. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions........ Thanks for your input. I'm leaning more towards a wired system because it looks like they are more affective for the price.
