Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We made our reservations today for the gathering at Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville Texas for March 2009. Can't wait to get there and meet everyone!! Can everyone who is going post on this so we will all know how many will be there. And a big Thanks to Dortha and everyone else in getting this gathering put together!!

Life may not be the the Party we hoped for, but while we're here we should Dance!
I am planning to be there, but I have a lot to do first, so I can't make a reservation yet. At my age, I don't plan that far ahead anyway. Happy Trails, Penny, TX
Gina and I plan on being there at least from the 7th through the 14th. Work will dictate whether or not we are there longer. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

We have talked about doing the ice cream social and pot luck both weeks. Why not! We can talk about it some more. We are also open for any suggestions.
I called this morning because I hadn't heard anything about our reservation and I was told we are definitely confirmed so we'll be there! We're staying for the entire month of March.
We are thinking of attending. I noticed some of you have already made reservations. If we wait a bit to reserve will we risk not getting a spot? We have been to Kerrville but never stayed at Buckhorn. TIA

Coleen I would not think that they will fill up that fast between now and March of next year. But you can make it and if things don't work out you can change it before they charge you. I really think the more Pot Lucks we can have the better we will all eat!!! LOL I know we will have fun.
I am so bummed! We are heading west next year and plan to be in the San Antonio area, so I checked our schedule and we'll miss the gathering by a couple of weeks! We're coming thru in February. Oh, well. I'm sure there'll be another time. I know you'll have a great time!

When i call to reserve a spot is there a name to give or RV dreams rally.?? If not where is everyone staying location in the park?? We probably will bev there the weekend of March 13 or 14 and stay a few days. Who else will be there. Also the time we are there i can help organize some potlucks etc..?
Annette tell them that you are with the Dortha Hall group. They will know the details and the area where our reservations are. I think most of us will be there from March 1st thru the 15th. A few may stay a little longer. No one has really talked about the potlucks yet but are thinking of having one each week and some day trips also. Maybe some geocaching too. We'll try to get a discussion on this going on chat one of these nights....

Remember Dreamers...this is NOT a Rally...this is a "Gathering". Dreamers "Gather" where ever they can whenever they can for as long as they can...We only Rally when Howard and Linda sound the signal. If they can't this year we will hunt them out and "Gather" around them until they can "Rally" with us.
Well said, Speedy....This is a "Gathering Of Dreamers", it is Not A Rally. There are no events - it is come when you want - leave when you want and have a great time while you are there.
As far as potlucks , ice cream socials etc i am sure those will be happening but at this time there is no schedule.
Anyone wanting to make reservations needs to call the park directly and let them know they are with the Dortha Hall Party.---At the current time there are 12 parties registered. We still need 3 more to get a group rate. Also reservations are coming in fast and furious so if you want to be a part of the "Gathering Of Dreamers" you might want to call to be assured of a spot.
If you have questions, you can ask them here and someone will be sure to answer.
There has been conversation about how many reservations we have for Kerrville. There are fifteen confirmed reservations. If you are interested in joining us for Our Gathering of Dreamers during the month of March please post here and we will let you know how to make your reservations so we are guaranteed to be together. Its guarantted to be a fun time!!! Especially if Speedy brings his dress!!
Don't count on Speedy being in a dress...but you can count on us having fun. I think this year Mac is dressing up and Mark and Jim are doing "Croaky" (inside joke) It should be one heck of a good time for us Dreamers.
We made our reservation for Buckhorn at last and will arrive March 12 departing around the 20th depending on who we may miss leaving on that date. Our plan is to meet as many of the "Dreamers" as we can at this gathering. We are in a back in spot and will have our little flag with our TX Logo on it that reads "JA-Texas". If I forget to put it out...we drive a 2001 Newmar Kountry Star MH, Tan/White and tow a 2001 GMC Sonoma also tan.
We retire 1/30 and head for Louisiana and Texas from NJ in mid February. We have Granddaughter in Austin area that we plan on seeing sometime in March. Had planned on spending some time in this area.
phyllen, this is just a bunch of us Dreamers meeting at Buckhorn for however amount of time each of us can make it. Some will be there March 1st for 2 weeks or a month and some will come in the middle of the month. Feel free to join us!! We are just playing it by ear and will have a great time together. If you call to make a reservation, let them know that you are with the Dortha Hall group and I think we will get a better rate.

There is the possibility Len might be working some while we are in SW Louisiana area. As he is retiring some NJ Dept of Corrections, he is not eligible for Unemployment benefits. UNLESS he becomes reemployed and earns 6 times his benefit rate and then gets laid off.
There are several possibilities for short term employment back in his home area. As he has two more years before his SS kicks in, a combination of short term jobs and UI, sure would help the finances.
But, if he is not working, we will surely be headed that way.
Ok, curiouisty got the best of me...I called Buckhorn RV Resort to find out for sure how many reservations are made as of today. As of today there are 16 reservations made for the gathering. Not all for the same days, but all in March. If you want a current list, let me know. I have a spreadsheet made up in excel and I can email it to you.

Hi Y'all. Just for any folks who may not know who, or where to contact, the rates etc., would someone please post all the info ? We know it is any time in March, at Buckhorn, under Dortha Hall's Group, but some may not know the rest of the story.... It might spark an interest to others of the Community Forum. More the merrier. I am still working on my plans to get there. Happy Trails, Penny, TX
For anyone else interested in the Gathering of Dreamers at Buckhorn Lake Resort (800-568-6458). Here is a link to their website so you can get information on the Resort: http://buckhornlake.com/index.htm Tell them that you are with the Dortha Hall group and that you would like to make a reservation with their group. The gathering starts March 1st 2009 and it continues through March 31st. Some will stay the full month and some will only stay the first two weeks and some others will only stay a few days. If you make your reservations, please post on here so we can keep track of all attendees. If you have anymore questions, please post them on this forum and we will try to get the information for you...

Looks like we have to cancel for this gathering. I hope to make another. I will miss meeting you all too. Leno and i got to meet last week...that was great. We will not be able to make the Rally in October either a new grandbaby and a Trip to las vegas later in October to the AARP convention.... see you all in chatland..
Oh how I wish we could be there! I sure would like to meet some of you. Oh well, if this is a yearly event and since we are planning on moving to Texas, we will try to make next years get-together! Ya'll have fun now, ya hear?
A big "Thank You" to all the RV-Dreamers at the Gathering yesterday. We were not part of the gathering, but staying nearby. We took the opportunity to visit the gathering to see old friends we had not seen in a while, and also meet new friends.
Joining in the potluck, we were made to feel so welcome. Many introduced themselves to us and we were happy to meet so many people we only knew on the forum and blogs.
Prior to the potluck, we came to visit Joe and Sherri Pitman, long time readers of our blog, who have corresponded with us often. We were happy to finally meet them.
So thanks all you dreamers for making us feel like part of the group. We enjoyed meeting you all.

If you're not getting older...........you're dead!
For those of our Dreamer number that were unable to join us here for the "Gathering of Dreamers" we would like to say that we missed all of you and spoke of you often. Now as soon as you can you must make plans for the next "Gathering of Dreamers". The fun and excitement has been unbelievable! Never before have Sherri and I experienced such friendship...There was even a party in the laundry mat!!! I know how often do you see that? Be sure you do not miss the next "Gathering of Dreamers". and bring your stories to share with us all....
Hi Sherri & Speedy, We sure wish we were there too. Maybe next yr. We are thinking about attending the rally in Oct. since we won't be able to tour the New England states ( one of Don's dreams after he retires ) because we have a new grandchild on the way the first week of Sept., of course that comes first. Well, think of us while in that warmer Tx. weather. We had 3 inches of snow last night & it is 34 degrees at the moment in southern Va.
Be safe in your travels.
Lois
