Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Make a prediction for June, 2009

We all have lots of fun on this forum and I have a request that I think will be intersting to look back on.

Please take a moment and let us know what you think will happen in these areas:

Cost of gas and diesel on June 30, 2009. I predict $4.99/$5/55
How many RV/motor home manufacturers will close down. I will guess at least 3.

What percentage will RV/motor home sales be down over 2008? I will guess 30 percent.

Will camp grounds begin to lower prices or make special offers to entice us to stay with them. I predict a yes.

Don't hold back.  No grades or prizes will be issued.

Well Fox you know I have always said...please don't let the government know we enjoy this lifestyle. I think we should keep this on the QT and not complain about the cost of fuel I agree with you things will change for sure. The higher prices will weed out the folks that don't really crave this kind of adventure...but those of us that cannot live without it... we will continue on. When the covered wagons reached the bad lands and the indian attacks and diseases of those times some of them kept going west no matter what...well...there you go. It doesn't matter what they try to do to keep us in one place we will break free and roam this country no matter what! Forward HO Dreamers bring on the $6.00 a gallon fuel I'll stop eating until I get to the next rally with all my friends...I could lose some pounds ya know.
Thats my thoughts for what they are worth...See you all on the road west

Speedy

Foxriverguy,

I'll throw in my two cents but by June 2009, it would only be worth one cent.

Here's my predictions:

Fuel cost will be: GAS- 30 pesos DIESEL- 32 pesos (by June 2009 the US will be traded by Canada to Mexico for oil)

RV Sales will increase by 52% because RV's are the only type of shelter folks can afford to buy. BLM long term camping sites will be filled to capacity causing extensive environmental damage.

Campgrounds and RV resorts will begin offering free 7 day cruises (air fare included) to attract RVers away from the BLM campgrounds. Only problem, the site fees will be $350 per day. Don't laugh... here's the 4th of July weekend rate for a campground in Southern California $293.15 per day 3 day minimum.

Britney Spears will get pregnant, use dope, go crazy and begin speaking with an english accent...wait that's already happening.

Class C motorhomes will be downsized and Toyota Prius Hybrids will be used as the cab and chassis instead of Vans.

The new Air Force One will be a Bluebird Wonderlodge Bus Conversion running on old MacDonalds french fry oil.

Many RVers will install masts and large spinnaker sails on their RV for travel along the interstate highways in rural areas to conserve fuel. Piracy increases along I-40 causes the DOT to issue travel advisories to avoid travel during daylight hours unless your vehicle is equipped to repel boarders. arghh !

Folks now days are having fancy outdoor kitchens and patios built in their backyards. In June of 2009 a new spinoff industry will construct elaborate RV parking sites in your backyard so you can feel like you went camping without using gas.

Sorry, guess I had too much time on my hands today, I got carried away.
