My favorite RV Club

Joining an owner's group for mutual affiliation by brand of RV is but one reason to join an RV club. Owner groups are wonderful, but membership numbers will be relatively small, and the management of the organization is likely elected. As such, club benefits as to group insurance, emergency road service, campground discounts, a monthly publication that provides good information and just obtaining broader knowledge accessability likely will not exist.

There are a number of organizations that do provide true benefits mentioned above and many more. Many RVers belong to more than one organization to obtain a broader base of information, camaraderie and group benefits. Some organizations will be specifict to power or towable RVs and interests in RV usage.

I am confident other will chime in with specific suggestions. We belong to four.

We curently belong to a RV club, but have never went to any of it's functions. Being involved with the RV scene for over 13 years I have seen a lot of different clubs, probably over 100. That being said the one that I would join in a heart beat would be IDTT (I'll drink to that) LOL HAGD

jwillie44: You are a lucky person, your RV owners club is fun and so are the members. One downside is if you need to change RVs you won't have a lot of choice so hopefully your manufacturer maintains its standards and has something you want.
We started out in a Dolphin motorhome made by National RV. National RV had great owners rallies and we made friends with other owners. When we realized we wanted a motorhome that would work better for us as full-timers we looked at National RVs and even picked out a model and floorplan. But we were not ready to buy yet, so we decided to go for the next years model. A few months later we got ready to look and National RV had revamped their product line and what they had we did not like. We ended up with a Dutch Star made by Newmar. Unfortunately for National RV they lost a lot of their owners and just went bankrupt. Most of our friends we met through National RV are in other brands now.
Newmar's owners club is a joke in our minds. They charge $45/year, have a lousy magazine and the one rally we have been at we were not impressed. We have enjoyed meeting other Newmar owners and have good friends with them, but we get together in small groups of two to four RVs now.

Years ago, when I was still working for a living we joined a Good Sam chapter in the Chicago area called the Sunshine Sams. We met monthly summer and winter, but the summer months meetings were campouts within a 50-100 mile drive from Chicago. In the winter we met in a church and planned for the summer camping season and had speakers come in on various topics. It was a lot of fun, especially the campouts where everyone would participate in a potluck supper on Saturday night. It was a great way to meet new people and establish some lifelong friendships.

We also attended some of the large statewide "Samborees" that were held in Illinois. Those were fun too, especially the year they put us downwind from a hog farm in the middle of steamy July weather!

I went to a Hi-Lo TT rally, as I have one that I sometimes tow behind my Class B+, as a second bedroom. There was only one other Hi-Lo owner there. The other rally members, maybe about 20, had gone to bigger rigs. But they still kept on going to the Hi-Lo rallies, as they liked each other so much. So, so much for brand rallies ! You're right, our "Brand" club is a great group of people. Unlike some other Brand groups I have heard of, our little club lets members who have gone on to buy other brands, remain in our club.

We call them SOBs... (Some Other Brand)

We belong to the Cardinal rv club, We made two rallies last year and have plans for three this year, There are a few over 400 in our club, we have met some very good friends through this club. I also belive that most people that own rvs are friendlier or so I have found in my travels. We have a nice forum and keep in touch that way also. See you on the road.

For more than 20 years, we belonged to the "Avion Travelcade Club". Unfortunately Avions are no longer produced (AFAIK) but the club was renamed the "Fleetwood Travelcade Club". Made a lot of friends and had great times with the Avioners.

We then got a Safari and immediately joined Safari International and Florida on Safari. They still allow us to party with them. We still belong to Safari of Southern California.

We now belong to the Beaver Ambassador Club and enjoy them. It helps to have folks with common issues and solutions. The newsletter is pretty good and the magazine is produced by Monaco.

Monaco also puts on a couple of "family" gatherings a year. Goods times, free labor for issues and great entertainment.

It helps to have a little commonality when meeting new people.
