Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Best Rechargeable Flashlight

I admit to being a little bit of a gadget freak.  I like the very best in folding knives, camping stoves, multi-tools, all that stuff.  I grew up with the MagLite flashlights, and the plug in "one-mile" beam spotters and the "tactical" flashlights, but this one seems to fit the bill for overall best flashlight.

You can read the specs, but bottom line is...sturdy enough to be dropped without worry.  Long, long-lasting lithium rechargeable batteries.  When fully charged, it lasts more than three weeks of daily intermittent use of walking the dog at night or checking the perimeter.  

2400 lumens.  Kind of like looking at the Sun.  Easy enough to prop up or lay down to illuminate a tire change, engine work, or spot that campsite marker.

$38 bucks from Amazon with Prime shipping.  I highly recommend it.

Best?  Not sure what criteria was used to define "best" and for what usage.

So, you want bright. How about 10,000 lumens (not a typo!). But expensive. See Flashlight Reviews below or other alternatives and recommendations. Two very reputable and well known flashlight manufacturers. Never heard of Wuundi (CCC).

Bill,

Absolutely no offense taken. Just poking a little fun at our modern marketing terms - "best", "game changer", "incredible new", ... I always wonder best for who and how was it measured. I see a lot of prepper stuff - flashlights, multitools, backpacks, knives, etc. out there. Lots on ebay and more with third party resellers on Amazon. Frankly much of it is junk. If it is a true emergency preparedness item, I would not want my life to depend on it. 

And also wanted to share knowledge with a fellow flashlight enthusiast. I'll got lots (shhh!). Take a look at the reviews in the links and recommendations list. This guy does an incredible job. If you are looking for flashlight that you can depend on in a critical situation you will find them here. May pay a little more. Reliability and quality does have a price.

So, please continue to share those new finds. Just share a little more on the usage and why you thinks it's good, bad or just blah! There are a lot of gadget folks on here and they have opinions!  Just go to any rally and they will have a gadget show and tell.

For walking the dog I recommend getting a headlight so you have your hands free.

Amazon has so many filters, dependent on user, source, affiliations, etc. So, a bit of a mystery what you get!! Here are the full direct links (I hope!):

Olight (Family) a lot of great rechargeable small pocket (EDC), handheld and headlights. Then some ultra bright - Olight X7

ThruNite family and the 10,000 lumens ThruNite TN36

There are a number of other geat flashlight manufacturers out there: Surefire, Fenix, FOURSEVENS, Nitecore, EagleTec, ... Got some of all of these!! no

A good source of quality flashlights is Going Gear (Smyrna GA based) - they do Olight and many of the others, but not ThruNite. They also have lots of camping, survival and emergency gear. I'm just a customer!

It's amazing what has happened with flashlight technology is the last ten years. A long way from the old D cell Maglights.
