Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Are fulltimers watching a lot of TV?

 

Struuggling with the direct tv packages.. need to set up a install at RVFORLESS..

 

I watch ..or listen.. to tv aot, when I had a home. At least 1 TV was always on. at night , there would be 2 on..

 

Does anyone think that will change?

 

Seems my "fun time" would be the same as my "working time"? leaving my "home" time the same? We also have the exterior entertainment center.. so we can be having a fire and watching tv.. if it matters..

 

Need to move on this today.

In our S&B, we didn't even OWN a television set!!! Our watching entertainment came from Netflix or other streaming means (great not being subject to commercials!).

Where we've been staying since June, however (seller's driveway, brother in law's house, this campground), all have had free cable access. And -- you guessed it -- we (at least ME) are enjoying the ability to watch tv. We're not at addict point yet (it is still mostly off) but when I need to rest, I'm finding myself lying in bed with the tv on. Or in the evenings, relaxing on the recliner in front of the tv.

Not sure it's at the point where we'll invest in satellite yet unless it'll give us superior internet service, but I can easily see myself paying a little extra if the campground charges for cable service.

I am not sure where we would find the time to watch TV. When working we did not, since we were not home enough to justify paying for cable and over the air didn't work at the house. Once we retired, we did not add TV back into our lives. Guess what? We really don't miss it.

We shut down the cable about 6 years ago. We have probably 5 or 6 TV series on DVD (The Middle, The Neighbors, Samantha Who, etc.) and probably less than a dozen favorite movies. From what we saw in the past, if the RV had the satellite dish or was hooked up to the cable, you really rarely saw them. A lot of people maintain their lives the way they did in S/B while others just totally change it up. I thought most of what was on TV was so trashy and when I quit watching the news, I felt SO much better but I do keep up with the current issues so that I can vote responsibly and send emails to my congress people. We are going out next week in our pop-up, the first time in 2 years and the rule will be no electronics, good-bye internet and cell phone reception! Again, this would all come down to how YOU plan to live the lifestyle which has endless possibilities where the only "right" way is YOUR way.

My husband nearly went off the deep end when we cut the cable in the way I nearly did when we cut sugar from our diet!

Take it FWIW, but I’ll bet that the TV viewing habits of full-timers or extended timers don’t change all that much from S & B to a trailer.  Especially if you have a DVR and satellite in the rig. You may view at different times, but you still watch what interests you.

Our sat bill about half of what you posted. We are with Dish though. We have all the TV we want. DW watches much more than I. I work long hours.
