Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

For those waiting to "live the Dream'

This is for all of you, like us, who are still trying to get to our dreams.   It is NEVER to late!!

BTW I did have a few tears.

Sadly, I don't have a good enough data plan to watch the video, so I'll just make a comment.  Keep in mind that any videos embedded within the body of a post needs to be RV related.  If it isn't, then the policy states to provide a link to it elsewhere.  That way, if one isn't sure about what the video shows, they might be able to find out by reading comments at the site where it is "hosted."  So, for now, I will not delete this so that I can remind everyone that there is a policy for videos.

Policy Regarding Embedded Video Clips

Maybe it is not RV related but this lady is amazing. While I'm writting I'd like to ask a question to Terry. I've read several times comments from your part about resizing the police used to write a post, picture being too large, now a video that as nothing to do with RV. Could you tell me if you are the webmaster or the person responsible for the forum. If I'm asking it is because I find strange that you often write those types of comments. If it's the case I will have learn something tonight.

She died living her dream - http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/celebrity/britains-got-talent-singer-janey-cutler-1110218.

You can remove this anytime since it is not RV related.

Terry is a moderator for the forum and it is responsibility to look for posts that violate the policies set by the forum owners here which is a job I would never want. It can be a very thankless job on any website. I appreciate knowing that Terry and Genecop, the two I know of that are moderators, are keeping a watchful eye on the activity here. I have been in forums with loose rules and no moderation and they are not good. Most of the forums that I go to don't have the link embedded like the OP has done. Many don't have the internet whatever to actually view a lot of videos the way I understand it. I did not view the video since it did not look RV related and that is why I am here.

The video brought me goosebumps and a few tears. Perhaps it's not RV related per se, but it did strike a personal chord for me; the underlying message being that no matter how old you are, or what challenges there are in your life, you can still follow your dream. And isn't that what this forum is all about - dreaming or living the dream??

Jean,

Unlike many other forums that I participate on, RV Dreams does not show in the profile area that the moderators are what they are.  Obviously, new folks don't know our function and can easily mistake why one seems "harsh" towards others.  In reality, I kind of like it that way because it doesn't differentiate us and lets us look like what we really are....just a couple more members of this great forum family.

If I may, one reason for asking for non RV related videos to be "linked to" instead of embedded is that the embedded video may not accurately indicate what the video is all about when it is embedded.  In addition, in this case the original poster did not really explain what the video was all about in their posting.  I can guarantee that there are videos out there in YouTube land that have an image showing that "masks" that the video may actually contain.

As much as we sometimes hate it, there are reasons for us to have to be picky about what goes on the forums.

However, we moderators aren't "all bad."  We do a pretty good job of getting rid of the spammers in the forums.  As for "spam" to the private message function of the forums, if the spammer doesn't have a post anywhere within the forums, we moderators can't ban their IP.

I am sorry that I did not link it properly. You do not know me and I understand. Let it be known that I would never post anything that my virus scan and malware scan did not allow. I just thought it was inspirational to all. You are welcome to delete it.

Wendy: If you go to other forums, you know the possibilities and I am sure this wasn't "personal". I've messed up on forums more than once by posting something that had to be taken down per the rules that I missed or maybe I was in the forum so long that I didn't remember the limits and a couple times when I was going to get it said despite the consequences. I have no doubt that your intentions were only good and I am sure most if not all agree with me.

Wendy,

Don't for a minute think that I am being critical to you as a person.  As you said, I don't know you other than what you post here.  If what I had seen had concerned me, I would have just deleted the thread entirely.  However, it appeared to be an inspirational video, so I decided to leave it and take the opportunity to remind everyone of the policy on videos.  You just "happened" to be the one whose post was chosen for that.

Sadly, not everyone even goes to the "Guidelines and Suggestions" or the "Forum Tips" categories to get an idea of what is allowed and how one can better use the forums.  Even if one has been to those areas, one still has a tendency to forget what was mentioned in those places.  I think that can be called "old-timer's disease" as I have it as well.
