Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Today I did the test; I just wanted to run the 5th wheel fridge on the inverter while towing (save on propane) the test went so good I turned on the 15000 btu roof air conditioner that pulls 16 amps and the fridge at 400 watts at the same time; the 2 alternators 125 amp each was putting out 193 dc amps off the diesel truck; the alternators ran so smooth with no sweat. I took a reading off the battery bank, it was also taking in 193 amps, it was so cool. The test was for 15 minutes then (with the truck off) 5 hours later the battery bank was still at 12.93 volts so not only did it handle the fridge and the air but also fully charged the battery bank. So how did I do it? I just have to tell someone LOL. From the truck battery I put a 1314-200 amp sure power battery separator; then ran 2/0 cable through the truck frame to a Anderson Power pole plug in the bed; then through the front of the 5th wheel to the battery bank; 45 feet run from the front of the truck to the battery bank; I do not plan on running the air conditioner on the inverter it was only a test. I have 4, 12 volt AGM batteries and a 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter; there will be 2 more batteries added when we get on the road real soon total of 6 batteries and 360 pounds, This is stage 1, stage 2 is a 320 amp battery charger coming up next, this may or may not be for you but that is how I roll, real soon I hope LOL.
