Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So, we've now been living in our driveway or the neighbor's driveway for 3 weeks in our rig and we've already determined some of the RV furniture needs to be replaced. First on the list is a "real" desk chair for me. We installed a keyboard tray to allow the keyboard to be at a reasonable height for a short person and now after just a couple of days of having my office in here I've determined that this chair is not going to be comfortable for my 40+ hour a week full time job that I will continue as we hit the road.
I've been looking at several of the office stores and a few furniture stores and can't find anything that is comfortable enough, that looks like it's built to last more than a month or two that isn't huge. I don't want a chair that takes up a lot of room, I don't need the side arms, but I want something that is comfortable enough that I can sit in for a normal work day.
Any suggestions? I think I've been looking in the wrong place at the local office stores and furniture stores.

One may want to consider going to Amazon and searching for "Kensington Memory Foam Seat Cushion". I bought one (with a memory foam backrest) and it made a big difference for me. I liked the products enough that I ordered a set for my expensive office chair. Seating comfort is really a personal matter. Just throwing it out as an alternative for you.
To find the higher end chairs, track down where the local companies buy their furniture from - usually surplus office stores, office furniture stores, etc. I've had a Global Magdala for about 10 years that I sit in for many hours a day, and I love it. It is finally starting to show wear, so I'll be in the market for a new chair myself within a year. And my sweetie has his eye on snagging a used Aeron or Warwick off Craigslist somewhere along our route. Expect to spend $300-800 for a good high quality new chair - but like a good mattress, it's worth it for the amount of time we spend in them.
The stuff you find in Staples, Office Depot, etc. can be decent enough if you find one that works for you. The trick there is to buy the extended warranty, when the chair gives out in a year or two (which it probably will), use the warranty to get a replacement.
