Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Nexus RV Viper 28V and Nexus RV Phantom 28P opinions

Hello,

I am still about a year away from buying, but I am leaning toward a Nexus RV motor home.  No slides.  The 28V normally has a slide out for the dinette.  They can build it without the slide however.  

 

Class C Phantom 28P E-450 cutaway Ford chassis

29'7" total length 

Wheel base 196"

Approx Weight: 11,355 lbs. as per sales person.

 

Class B+ Viper 28V E-450 cutaway Ford chassis

27'11" total length

Wheel base 196"

Approx Weight: 10,885 lbs. without slide as per sales person.

 

Slides are fine, but I do not need them plus if an RV does not have a slide, one does not have to worry about potential problems that sides may present over time.  I do not want to start a slide debate.  There are enough discussions on the subject already.  I am looking more toward the handling of the unit on the road and general  impressions you have on these two models.  I believe at least one member of this forum owns a 28P.  The 28V would appear to be better overall handling balance In my opinion.

I have read a lot more good things about Nexus RV than I have bad things.  I have met the owners of Nexus RV at a recent Chicago RV show an came away with a very good impression.  

I am also looking to have some minor customization done to the unit; nothing too complex, but enough to fine tune it to the way I want it.  A few examples would be specific brand of fresh, gray, and black tank level sensors, no skylight above the shower, and specific air vent covers.  All done at the time of the build, not after the fact.  Nexus RV would be able to do these types of mods during construction.

If you do some searching, you will find two different owners here on the forums.  One is RVPAINTER, who has his up for sale and the other is Jimmy McKinzie.  Jimmy had issues with his slide and getting assistance from the factory.  RVPAINTER has spoken of his in several places, and Jimmy's thread is here:

If I remember right, I think RVPAINTER had some problems with the leveling system on his unit.

Thanks for the info.  I came across RVPainter's postings a few Month's ago.  His overall impression of Nexus RV seems to be quite favorable.  A few bumps, but no regrets as far as I can tell.  I am curious on the resolution of the slide problems that Jimmie Mckinzie experienced, but I have not seen any posting on it.  No slides for me however.
