Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My husband and I are looking into living in an RV full time. The trucking company he has been with for 20 years closed in Sept. of this year and he is looking for a new job. We are currently selling our house and we have been thinking of living in an RV instead of renting a house.
I raise rabbits for show and pets. I would like to continue to do this while living in an RV. We would be stationary for 6 months at a time. We have been looking into staying in Texas during the winter months and living in a northern state (like Colorado, North or South Dakota, or Montana) in the summer months depending on what job he gets. We'd only be moving twice a year.
We are currently thinking about turning a 5th wheel into a rabbitry and taking it with us for the rabbits to stay in or finding a place where we could put hutches or put them in a building and be able to live in our 5th wheel.
Does anyone know an RV park that would allow this or some other way to accomplish this? I know it's kind of weird, but this is a hobby I love and don't want to give up the rabbits if I don't have to. We also have a couple of dogs, cats and a guinea pig and plan on taking them too. They aren't the issue though as I know that most campgrounds accept these kinds of pets. Just trying to figure out how to take the bunnies.
First of all, welcome to the forums. You will find it a good source of information because there are a lot of folks here, many already living full time in their RV's. Plus there is a lot of knowledge about all kinds of RV's.
Another possibiltity is to check into mobile home parks instead of RV parks. One has to adapt to other issues than living in RV parks, but there are some perks as well. Many mobile home parks will charge a lot less than RV parks, but will provide fewer, if any, utilities.
Jo and I are currently living full time in our Mobile Suites fifth wheel in the Oklahoma City area, and we are in a small mobile home park. I know of at least 2 or 3 other mobile home parks in the Oklahoma City area that also have facilities or can accomodate RV's.
You might would just have to check out each city where you are considering staying to see if any mobile home parks could accomodate both your RV and your animals.
I'll also second the idea of a toy hauler. Open Range even has one out there with a "wet bath" in the garage area that has sink, shower, and toilet all in the one space. I don't know if that would be helpful with cleaning animals or not, but at least you wouldn't have to be using the main bathroom.

I think a toyhauler might be your best choice too. You could certainly adapt the garage area for your needs. Will the bunnies always be in the trailer & not outside? If so, I wouldn't think the campground would care. If you're going to let them outside in cages, I'd guess you might want to check with the campground.
FYI, if you're going to be in the Denver area, the House Rabbit Society is a great bunny rescue group. If you want to add another bunny to your family, you'll find lots of great bunnies there.
LOL, Thanks Cindy, but I have plenty. I am finding a bunch of them new homes as it is, to cut my herd down.
Thanks Terry & Jim, we've considered the Toy hauler idea too. I wouldn't keep the rabbits outside in a campground, but would like to take them out for exercise in a pen or on a leash. I do some rabbit agility with them for exercise.
We're still checking things out, so keep the ideas rolling. Let me know if anyone comes across a rabbitry friendly campground or mobile home type park.
