Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Earlier this year Verizon announced their plans of network optimization to control the top 5% of data users bringing down the service for everybody else. Verizon has finally implemented this system and users going over 2GB a month on an older 3G unlimited data plan may find themselves surfing at reduced speeds shortly.
So what do you think about Verizon's new network optimization? I think it's interesting this is being officially announced with rumors of the next iPhone going live sometime next month.
They are not going to throttle anyone with a 5GB/month plan when they hit 2GB. There are details being missed or left out. The focus of this would be those on the old truly unlimited plan and not those of us who are paying a fixed fee for fixed usage. Even a user with an unlimited plan is not going to be throttled at 2GB in 30 days but they might be throttled if they download 2GB in a day or a week or some very short time period.

I don't think we will know the details until it starts impacting users. I'm sure more details will emerge when people start complaining about the optimization. At this time I'm pretty sure that this will only effect Smartphone users and shouldn't impact anyone using a datacard directly.
