Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

WiFi on the road - Pepwave Tutorial

I know a lot of the members have been looking at the WiFi Ranger as a dedicated router that offers WiFi as WAN, but if you've already got a Cradlepoint router that doesn't offer WiFi as WAN the Pepwave is a great option to add in that capability.

I think the big concern is setup and how hard is it to actually connect the Pepwave to a wireless network. I just made a setup tutorial video showing how you can connect to a WiFi hotspot in under 5 minutes.

Good one, Matt. It will be helpful to many people.

Personally, for the cost I'd rather see people set up a more powerful CPE, but the Pepwave works well in many situations. And it is pretty simple, as these things go.

Anyone that wants to build out their own CPE, take a look at my website in the Communications section and there is a download for DIY. A lot more complex than the PepWave, but more capable as well.

Thanks Jack, I'll be putting together some pretty cool demos in the near future. One of which will be a point to point installation with some directional antennas.

In fact I was going to do some testing Sunday at a location, but realized I had all the antennas and forgot the Pepwave Surf Mini no

I may even through together a quick tutorial walkthrough on the CPE setup with a non WiFi as WAN model, but that'll be a DIY tutorial and something we wouldn't support directly.

If you do the tutorial on video of a CPE setup (non-WiFi Ranger Boost Mobile) I'll link to it from my DIY CPE Guide. That will help people some more. I'd suggest using Ubiquity equipment for that.

But I'll give you the same warning someone gave me - once you do this, hopefully you do not create a support issue for yourself. Lots of people have used my Guide to build up their own CPEs.....and I have gotten LOTS of support "cries" on various issues. No matter how well you document things - if a novice builds this, they will have issues. Which is why I never published a guide before.

BTW, I tied a Bullet to the MBR95 and it rocked.

That's why I said if I make a video it will be a DIY how to, since we couldn't spend that amount of time supporting individual customers. That's what does make the WiFi Ranger nice as it simplifies the process!

PS - Hows the MBR95 working for you now?
