Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have a Motosat Satellite Dish & receive Direct TV & Hughes Net Internet service on it. We have arrived in South Dakota for the summer & are able to lock onto tv but the dish will not lock on the internet & keeps circling round & round. We called Motosat & they had us update our sat table & calibrate the dish to 91 West. Unfortunately we were having a router issue at the time so I had to run to the store, buy a new router & then finish calibrating etc on my own. I know it completed successfully because we were on the road for three days before arriving in SD & were able to lock onto both tv & internet along the way. But now that we are set up for the summer, no luck. Internet is offered here for free so I'm wondering if anyone knows if Motosat allows you to go on 'vacation mode' for any period of time? Or if you know if there is a problem with the satellite we're currently on? Thanks for any imput...
No problems with your satellite, only MotoSAT tech. support. You can put your service on suspension for up to 6 months. I believe that MotoSAT charges $50 for this service. Unless you are blocked by a tree, you likely don't have any real problems that good tech support could solve. I offer paid tech. support should you need it. However, if you are getting "good" internet service for free a period of suspension might make more financial sense.
Thanks Bill for your quick response. We met in 2009 when we were in Brookings, Oregon & were having satellite issues. We drove to you & purchased a new LNB after you correctly diagnosed our problem. I will call Motosat tomorrow about vacation mode, thanks for the suggestion. I have to admit there is ONE tree in front of our dish & we thought it might be an issue so we moved the rig back & at a different angle to no avail. Still keeps searching & searching. I finally just waited until the tv locked on for the 50th time & stopped it from searching. The internet is free here but signal strength is weak so was hoping to get my service up. However, for a $79.99 a month savings it's probably best to deal with it while here. Thanks again for your imput. I can see why you have so many rave reviews on your site & the various forums.
New Member here, I have had my MotoSat for about 2 years now and trees will give you a problem. I set up once with a tree nearby, I had checked with a compass and thought it would be clear but it wasn't and it did the same as yours is doing. If posible move 10 feet and try again.
I have also set where I was sure a tree would be a problem only to have it lock in 4 minutes. Good Luck, Kevin
