Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Why has adding a hyperlink become hard?

Not long ago I could add a hyperlink by using the handy little chain link icon in the editor and now it is grayed out and I have to use HTML.  But if you try to edit anything with HTML in the visual editor you can easily lose the hyperlink.  Am I the only one seeing this?  This might have started when I let Windows 7 upgrade me to IE9.

The little chain icon works for me, Bill.  Here's the link to YOUR BLOG.  You need to highlight the text in your message first, then the chain link becomes active.

Thanks. The highlighting was the trick I did not get. I remembered that I used to turn off the Advanced editor and I could insert a hyperlink that way but now it just has HTML.

While I've not had any problems yet with RV Dreams, I did run into problems with IE version 9 on other forums.  In the past with RV Dreams, I've always been able to just "copy and paste" the link into the body of the message, although it did have to be put on a line by itself.

What I've run into now with RV Dreams is that when I go to "Show Preview" I have to leave the mouse cursor over that button.  If I move it off of the button, the preview disappears.

I don't understand HTML and I'm not sure what you are describing as to using a "chain link icon" and just how it makes things look in the message.

I'm thinking of getting the computer guru (wife, Jo) to take us back to IE 8.

 Terry, I don't know anything about HTML either.  The "chain icon" that we're referring to is in the message reply formatting header you see when you hit the reply button... the one where you can change fonts, etc.  The chain icon is the little picture of a chain that's directly beneath the U underline symbol.  Here's the procedure step-by-step:

  1. Highlight and copy the address of the page you want to link to:  http://www.ignoringthebarkingdogs.blogspot.com/
  2. Highlight the text in your message that you want to represent the link.
  3. Click on the "chain icon" (Insert/edit link)
  4. Paste your copied link into the "Link URL" box.
  5. Click on the "Insert" button

Ron,

You would have to ask the "other guy."  There was a gentleman that was trying to get pictures of the chipmonks with his cell phone as I walked by him there at Seven Falls in Colorado Springs.  I suspect the two little "beggars" were pretty tame.  I've got one more for you.  With this one, the guy was trying to reach out and pet him and the chipmonk grabbed one big bite and split.
