Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Verizon Wireless has released a PDF containing information about a new network management and throttling system today. Verizon stated "As part of our continuing efforts to provide the best experience to our more than 94 million customers, Verizon Wireless is introducing two new network management practices". The new technologies include network optimization and transcoding technology designed to transmit data files more efficiently, which allows them to improve network capacity.
This will only effect users that consume an "extra extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5% of Verizon Wireless data users, we may reduce your data throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of your then current and immediately following billing cycle to ensure high quality network performance for other users at locations and times of peak demand"according to Verizon. This is designed to ensure that the other 95% of customers have a fast reliable user experience. We suspect that these new network management features are preparation for the upcoming Verizon iPhone 4.
I keep waiting (expecting) Verizon to cancel or curtail my unlimited broadband subscription. Is there any possibility of tha happening? I've been with Verizon for a long time now with cell, broadband mobile and lately fiber optics at home.

I don't think you have anything to worry about unless you make a change to your contract. The problem happens when the equipment no longer exists for the specific plan you have.
Verizon has the stipulation that when going to a 3G/4G device you must sign a new contract, which means you must give up your existing contract. Grandfathered users should hold onto those accounts until a better option is available or they're forced to do an upgrade because no equipment exists anymore for their specific plan.
I know I'll be holding onto my unlimited plan with my iPhone 4 and not jumping ship to Verizon after this announcement.
