Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am new to the board so heregoes. I am a 42 yo widowed mom of 2 beautiful young women ages 19 and 21 who are both in college, one for neurosurgery and one for art/animation for Disney. I started full-timing in 09 with the love of my life, my husband of 22 years and he became too ill to continue some 3 months later. He passed in Nov of 09. I have taken a year off to try to collect myself and figure out who I am as an individual (which I have never been, it has been me and my parents or me and my husband). I will be continuing with our life-long dream in May when I will take out full-time working at Jellystone Resort in Warrens WI. I am sad to be without him but excited to finally move on in my life and explore new things, new adventures and new people.

Take care and good luck,

So sorry for your loss but congratulations on your decision to move forward with your dream. I was in the same boat, losing my husband in 2004, took 2005 to tour the country on my Harley (solo) to avoid making any decisions. Finally sold my house in 2007 and hit the road full-time that October. I've never looked back.
Sorry about the loss of your husband. While we can all hope for long lifetimes with our spouses, sometimes it just isn't God's plan. But, perhaps it is the opening of a new door. You know, like, some of us might need the services of your daughter that will be a neurosurgeon. I hope not, but who knows.
As for the artist....who knows. Maybe someone wants some artwork put on their RV?
Anyway, you will find a lot of knowledgeable folks here, and almost all of them are very helpful and friendly. Feel free to ask questions or make comments. We all learn from the experiences of others as well as our own.
Now, Northern California. Waaaayyyyy back in the day (1960's), I was stationed at a very small Army base just West of Petaluma, California. My second time out there, Jo was with me and we were newlyweds. We loved the beautiful country of Northern California. Any qualms about telling us more specifically where you live in the state? (I'm not asking you for the name of a town, just say something like "within 'X' miles of "X".)
Have fun with your new life and feel free to share with us. That way we all become a much bigger and better family.
Terry

Welcome!!!!! The people I met on here are really helpful and informative, so ask many ???''''''s. I joined this forum last February and have read a lot. The blogs are really interesting, View pictures of places and people I may never see or meet. Traveling solo can be stressful at first, it was for me, but as I read more and found there are a lot like us out here, it relieved that. Pieere !!

It sounds like you took the time you needed to come to this decision. Good for you! I'm in awe of women that do this alone. You are an inspiration to many!
Welcome Darlene, You have my respect for being able to move forward. We have 2 daughters and I can't imagine being able to follow my dreams but I hope I would.. Sorry for your loss--best to you as you pursue your dreams.
Welcome back to the dream~ I am so sorry for your loss. My husband is my best friend and we're planning our gypsy life together and I can't imagine just getting out there and having something so tragic happen. I hope you keep us posted, and I hope we run into each other at some point and can have coffee. I'm 41 with four children, two of them grown. Best of luck & happiness to you~ Stacy

Welcome to the RV-Dreams forum Darlene. It's great to see you moving forward at this time...a testament to your strength. My sincere condolences on the loss of your DH. Now is your time to fly, grow, experience and live the dream again. I wish for you safe travel, happy trails, and many many new friends. I hope to meet you on the road some day.
My daughter is a wonderful artist (16 years old on 2/15). I would love to see her put this to some use. How did your daughter get into the art/animation for Disney? When will she graduate? Wow....neurosurgery! Your other daughter must be brilliant.. congrats. You have much to be proud of - including yourself!
I am sorry your journey has included such a heartbreak, so early. And I am impressed with your courage to continue. Have a wonderful time in WI. It is truly a beautiful place. You are reminding me I need to get back to that part of the country! I grew up in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. If you have time, try to go see it. It is amazing! Pinon
Welcome to your new family. Continuing on after regrouping from life's blow is a way to honor your love. May you find peace and comfort in your n ew family.
