Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dish TV

Is anyone using Dish TV on the road... I am not FT yet but we are spending the summer at a campground in our 5th wheel...I have called Dish TV twice now and have gotten different answers for the same  2questions...
How much will it cost and how do I get it installed? I have an account with them and have two receivers... I would like to take one of the receivers and have a portable dish placed at my camper...do I have to have them come do this ? One tec told me that there would be no extra charge to my present bill except to purcahse the dish, an other told me it would be a new account and I would be paying 34.00 a month for the service..
I just am trying to get my DH a few hours of TV time on Sunday mornings..any help would be great Thanks..patti

I don't use Dish or Directv but I do have friends that have it.  From what they have told me, you just take the receiver from the house and purchase a spare dish (that you must be able to point to receive the signal) mount it on a portable stand to carry in the rv.  Your paying for the signal and it's programmed into the receiver/card so it doesn't matter where or when you use it.

I go camping to get away from the tv, computer, etc.biggrin  I do take my cell phone but it's turned off unless I need it.  Happy Camping!

You can find used/new dish units on craigslist/local paper.  I have a couple extra laying around that you can have.  I took them off of the house after we moved in, I still use an outdoor antenna!  I like free TV.biggrin
