Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
At one time, I worked in a store that specialized in backyard bird feeding. While there, I read there that certain flowers attract hummers better than others. As I see hummingbird accessories available elsewhere on this web site, I thought I'd pass along my own experience with them.
In addition to the nectar feeders, hang out a couple of baskets of red, pink, or orange tubular-shaped flowers. When we've gone RVing for a vacation, etc., I've always taken along my hanging baskets or containers to enjoy the trip, too. Hummers just love red salvia, agastache, petunias, fuschia, impatiens, and geraniums. There are probably more. The red salvia is like a lightening rod for them.
Good Luck!

We hang two baskets of fake fushia flowers that have the little twinkle lights from our awning.
The hummingbirds try to get nectar out of the fake flowers. They always seemed a little upset when they flew away. I picked up a hummingbird feeder so I wouldn't feel so guilty.
I once made the mistake of hanging our hummingbird feeder from the bottom of one of these baskets. The hummingbirds went for the fake flowers instead of the feeder.
Now I make sure I hang the feeder away from the fakes. I think I'm finally in good with the hummingbirds....
