Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We saw this on the web, and we went to the local Verizon store. You can get a 15% discount and an even larger discount on accessories. We had no problem when we were there.
If you are a veteran and use Verizon telephone service, if you take your DD 214 (discharge) to any Verizon company store (not a franchise store), and ask for discount code #117818, you will get a 15% discount off your Verizon bill, before taxes.

It is a 15% discount for as long as you have Verizon. As for accessories it is either 20 or 25 % discount. Now I am not sure what is claimed to be accessories.

We took in hubby's DD214 today and they fixed us up right away with the monthly 15% discount on our service. With that in place, we bought new batteries for our phones at a 25% discount. Accessories are batteries, chargers, case, ear pieces, etc. We'd get the "friends and family" deal, too, except that would change our basic plan and we don't want to do that because we've had the same plan for 10 years now that allows us to use just our regular minutes (unlimited nights and weekends) and our phone as a modem for internet access with no charges for data transfer.
I hjave had Verizon service for ten years also. I tried to tether my LG5200 which recieves the internet by itself to my laptop and was stopped. I called Verizon and they said that I would have to pay an additional $59.95 for access. I already pay to have my Blackberry tether. My Blackberry won't connect to an external amp and external antenna. Can't find an adapter for it to connect it to my wilson amp and Yagi antenna which I use in remote areas. My LG 5200 connected to the amp and Yagi gets cell service in some really remote aeras but I can't get it to work for data. Either my lack of knowledge or Verizon is blocking me. Probably the former. I would appreciate any suggestions to be able to make the 5200 work tethering it to my laptop. Thanks

We took my husbands DD214 into the store and they no nothing about it. They made a call and they gave me a fax number to send it to. That was in May I believe. Still nothing.. I called and get nowhere with anyone I talk to.. Some day soon we will try going to another Verizon store for help.. We only have the air card from them not cell phones so maybe that is the problem..
I may not be helping you much here but there are hardly any cell phones with the external jack to hook up with the Wilson antenna. Seems as though most cell companies have quit making the hole in the back of the phone for hookup. We have ATnT and my older cell phone does have the plug to use with the Wilson. Now our laptop is with Verizon and we use the air card, plus the Wilson helps for extra boot when in a remote area. I am sure someone else on the forum can be of more help. southwestjudy
I went to our local Verizon store today, took along my DD-214 and the code I got from this forum and they fixed me right up. The young lady said it would reflect in my next bill. So lets wait and see, she also said that the discount is in my file. Glad I read these forums, much good information. So thanks to all of you. I am glad vets can get some kind of discount. God bless America.
This is part of Verizon's emloyee discount program. You can call or go online and get an authorized Verizon location where you can complete the process in person. It can be done online if you have access to fax the documentation to Verizon.
You don't need a copy of the DD 214 to get the military discount. The ID card will work. Not all employees at a Verizon store will be familar with the program so having the "employee" discount code previously mentioned will speed up the process. If also will go smoother if you have a military email address like us.army.mil or something similar from other services.
