Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Fiberglass roof

We have a 2002 Class A MH with fiberglass roof. Roof is beginning to feel chalky and we notice white streaks down sides with heavy dew and rain. Is there a sealant or coating that we need to use?
Thank you, Brenda

You should talk with your manufacturer about this. We have a fiberglass roof on our 2006 Elite Suite and have not had a problem.....maybe another on here can help.  Seems as though there should be some product to nutralize the problem after a cleaning.

On our 2007 Elite Suite it went like that before it started cracking. The trailer manufacturer had the fiberglass supplier fill the cracks, sand them smooth and re coat them. (not sure what the recoating involved but a guy was up on the roof polishing with a bunch of different things) In any event the cracks have returned but not the white residue. I think a call to your RV manufacturer might get you directed to the roof supplier who could get you answers.

I know that American Coach, a Fleetwood comapny, uses a product called:

PLAS-T-COTE
Elastomeric Roof Coating
made by: ELIXIR

For specific information call - 800-443-5473

or write: Elixir Industries
640 Collins road
Elkhart, IN  46516

This product will oxidize over time, leading to white streaks and have to be applied but our coach is an 05 model made in 04 and we have seen no cracks.  We will be repplying the roof coating this summer.

That said, I would still contact your manufacturer for specific roof coating information before applying anything to your roof.
