Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Necessary Maintenance

Just received this link to an interesting article on maintenance that most of us may not be doing.

http://www.neflcc.com/forum1/1005.html

Funny, we just had an axle alignment because our wheels had different spacing as they describe in the article, and when they got under the coach they discovered I had 2 broken springs on one side. I guess I have to get under there more often.

Now my first thought would be, I know you just got back from Alaska.
Never been there myself, but always reading about the poor road conditions, would this be a result of that condition.
I have over the course of my life time experienced broken springs and came to realize that it can be very harmful to tires and alinement.
At the present time our MH does not have any springs but we do have to check the suspension system as they do wear out.

Bob often checks under our RV and found at one time a shock absorber that needed some welding done to it. Our tires are H rated. I was thinking the same thing about the bad roads in places on your trip to Alaska.

During a trip to Arizona and New Mexico my BIL told me my MH was listing to one side as I drove down the highway. At our next stop I climbed under my coach to find out that one of the shocks had never N E V E R been attached to the frame! We all need to check and double check our units out often to be sure they are holding together...My MH was only 2 days out of the dealership! Go figure...

I have to say that the condition existed long before we went to Alaska. We think we remember seeing the spacing issue last winter in Arizona, just didn't think to investigate further. As I mention in our "wrap up" blog on Alaska, the roads were much better than we were led to believe.
