Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Calling Computer People

I am not  a computer person...help me out.  About 6-8 weeks ago I stopped being able to get into the Forum.  I clicked on RV-Forums on the home page and then the Purple RV-Dreams Community Forum.  At that point I get the "no webpage available",  I have tried daily for all this time without success.  I'm now at the library and it works so something is amiss in my system.  The same happens if I sign in or don't sign it.  Can I fix this so I can get into the forum at home?   Everything else works great...the journal..other websites...other forums...

Thanx in advance for help.  I won't be able to see your responses till I get back to the library,

I am not a computer person but I would start with some basics.  First, I would delete any shortcuts that currently exist for this forrm.  Then, try getting to this starting page http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=91511
From there you should be able to get to any topic you are interested in and you can save a new shortcut for future access.  If you have gotten back to this topic you did something right.  Go back to the open page of this topic and bookmark (shortcut) that one as well.  You should be able to do this for any topics you normally visit and things should work as they did before.

This shows you how great this forum is! We have people going to the library to get back in. Howard and Linda take note of this one.

Thanks for the info. I tried www.activeboard.com/forum....etc and it got me to the topics page (further than I've been for weeks). Unfortunately when I clicked on a topic, new member or tried my user ID and password all I get is "WEB PAGE NOT AVAILABLE" Good try though.
As far as shortcuts or bookmarks, I have no idea what those are let alone if I have them or how to disable them. Like I said....no computer skills.
Thanks for trying...I really do appreciate it.

Try this...
Open your browser. Depending on which one you use, what you want to do is delete browsing history, cache, and cookies. Firefox this is under "tools" and "clear private data". For IE it is also under "tools" then "internet options".
Close your browser afterwards and then re-open. This should get you going again.

RV dude,
Thanks for that info.  I will have to keep that in mind if I see similar problems in the future.  As just a side note, I try very hard not to delete my cookies as they really should not have anything to do with browsing problems and I just hate having to re-enter my log in information across dozens of sites.
Once or twice a year I go into the Cookies folder and manually delete the cookies that are not associated with any site I recognize.  Ad-Aware takes care of the others that are of no value.

Bill makes a superb point about an occasional cleaning of your cookies. Adware /spyware type products do a lot on a regular basis, but the occasional either manual deletion or full scale delete all cookies is also a very good thing to do.
