Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dehumidifiers

We are currently in a very humid area and our sinuses have been acting up.  Also, during the cooler months when we cook inside the windows condensate.  Does anyone have any experience with dehumidifiers in an RV?  Saw a NewAir ADS 400 which sounds great for an RV, but does it work?

Can't be of any help on a dehumidifier, but if you're getting a lot of moisture on the windows on cooler days, you don't have enough ventilation.

Especially on cooler days, we slightly open one of the ceiling vents, (not enough to turn the fan on), and also leave a bedroom window open just about 1/4 inch. We very seldom have condensation on the windows unless it gets really cold. smile

Oh, one more thing, when cooking, use your stove vent and ceiling vents to get rid of that moisture.

I've had dehumidifiers in stick houses that I used in damp basements and they worked fine. I don't see any reason a small one wouldn't be fine in an RV.

We have dual pane windows in our fifth wheel and have never had any condensation in a year and a half, in all kinds of weather.

Something to think about if you're in the process of buying.

Thanks folks for your information.  We have dual pane windows and artic insulation package.  Right now we are in upper state New York and it has been extremely humid which bothers our sinuses (especially while we are sleeping).  Running the A/c helps but doesn't really take out all of the humidity.  We're looking for a small dehumidifier that we can use (don't want a big one because we don't know where we would put it).  We found the NewAir ADS-400 but not sure if it is effective.  Anyone have any experience with that or any other small dehumidifier?

ADS 400 for??

 

 

If you have 50 pint one is the best.

 

You will have good results with it.
